The ''Who rides what poll'' clearly shows....

That the three major brand are close. There have been a few Doo guys saying that Doo sells twice as many sleds...Well not to Snowesters.
At the start of the poll Poo had a great big showing. I would guess that shows big sales of new sleds, as we tend to spend more time on Snowest forum when we just bought a new sled and are full of excitement for the next snow.

Is this the way you see it? What do you think?

yeah i see it the same way... even in my area there is a pretty even mix of skidoo a/c and poo sleds everywhere we ride. the skidoo's sure have come along way with the xp's though i saw way more of them last year than any other new sled

If you have been sledding for very many years you will remember a time of PURE POLARIS dominated and that is unarguably true by all owners of different brands. However, the doo sleds have had a huge insurgance and IMO have dominated in growth over most brands for several years while Poo slipped and AC/Yamaha just struggle around in unknown land. But your statement holds true and I believe the market by each brand has definately leveled out with Doo taking away that dominence but by no means have surpassed them with double the market..they may be lucky to of matched it and maybe creeped past by a % or two.

EDIT. Surely someone can link up a pie chart showing brand market share?**but this will only show current sales not what people continue to ride**

I see it that while snowest may be the center of the world to some it actually represents less than 1% of the snowmobile market. :beer;

couldn't find any info for '08 sales, found this for '07 here....

I think they are fairly even at this point with the edge going to BRP. BRP did enjoy a big boost in sales with the REV chassis since it was so far ahead of pretty much everything else at the time. I personally know several people, including myself, that switched to BRP for the REV chassis and have now gone back to AC, or Poo or Yami. My point being that I think BRP is going to have a small drop in their market share over the next few years do to the other manufacturers having more competitive sleds again.

Things really changed in 2008 then because the sales numbers for 2008 are drastically different. BRP and Cat lost sales while Polaris and Yami both gained.
the chart I posted was for north american sales, yours is worldwide sales. another odd thing, it says at the top of your chart that yamaha gained in '08, but on the chart it shows them losing ground?

It was made by the International Snowmobile Manufacturer's Association. Not sure why there are descrepancies(sp?).

I see it as their are only two major players as far as snowest goes. Doo and Poo. Sure their are others intermixed but stepping back and looking at these numbers, plus looking at what drives each company. Anyone could see without too much help that Ski-Doo and Polaris are pushing each other to the next level more so then the others are doing to each other.
