The South Half

Thank you all for such a great time.

Weather forecasters are saying we will get at least the same amount of snow in the next 3 weeks as what we had all season.

How much snow is this? 6 feet plus?

Looks like you guys had a great ride. We went up to Cisco Grove. Only had 6 inches of fresh but still fun. Looks like we went to far North this time.
(Should of listened to Don ) We will probably head up to Sherman this Sunday.

17" and still coming down, here in Wrightwood... went for a little 10 mile ride (work got rained out :D) Now back to stoke the fire and some more pics

Ya get snowed in at Mammoth with 5,000 other people from LA and the Bay.

I must say I never seen Sherman with this much powder. Actual depth much deeper ... Only 3 feet at the pass.

We were in one meadow at 8500 feet and the powder was an easy 3 feet plus on average. Never dug down to see the actual depth. Although I must admit the other riders carved the powder in a most excellent way.

Sherman has yet to be groomed. The SNOKAT keeps breaking down.

I must add Sherman has two sides of trail/off trail conditions. Under 8,000 feet not great except for the fresh powder. Above 8,000 was most excellent.

Thank you for the plug but I assure you I am just spewing what I read all over the various websites.

NOAA shows a snow at the KERN river and several more feet since SUNDAY at 8000 feet. About a foot more near the YURT !!!

Just looked at the snotel stations around the meadows we were in south of the pass and has TWICE the amount of snowfall for 8-10 February compared to 6-8 February.

Talked to NFS Bob and they have another 2 plus at the porta potty.

Bob received a committment from the contracted plow guy to keep the road open to the porta potty and will bring a backhoe (for the parking lot) to accomplish this goal.

Storms thru Tuesday expect to bring 4-8 feet to the PEAKS and snow down to 4000 feet.

That's good news...when the snow is lower I had to park 8 miles below the main lot...ran out of gas about 2 miles up. I had to break through w/ my truck, luckily I made it no problem.

The next time I can go sledding is the last weekend of February. 27-28 1 March.

I know the CNSA is having an event at Mammoth and could go.

Or ... could go to Sherman and have it all to ourselves.

From the weather forecasting models this week is the last of the southern storms benefiting the south part of the state and the storms later this month will benefit the north half more. For this discussion middle of the state is FRESNO.

What does everyone else plan on doing?

Got 17" here out of the 2 last storms. Supposed to get more on Monday, probably ride around here if we get the dump that they say.

Can ride on Friday and Saturday if anyone else can swing some time.... Sunday I'll be in Fontana for the race
