The South Half

Mammoth was as good as it gets for march but melting fast down low, thinking of next weekend since the dealer fixed my touring sled in 1 day

Thanks again Jim, good to finally meet up and ride. Christina and I had a great time Saturday. Sunday we played around Smokey Bear Flats area, down into Dry Creek and found a fun off trail area through the drainage and over into the flats by the tunnel. The sidehilling gave her some fits, but she got up the hill we found, like a champ. Building confidence every trip.
Coverage was ok in the trees, could get another week if it doesn't snow... stay on the west side for the good snow.
Booked the next 2 weekends, then free for a group ride on the weekend of March 28-29. Can do Mammoth or Sherman, will leave it up to the majority that chimes in on their preferance.

It was good to meet you Mike and Christina too. I probably won't go again this coming weekend, i need to let my sore as* heal up. I will vote for mammoth at the end of the month ride, need to pickup the sled. Also will be going on 4-17 weekend when the lakes open up. More pics from the weekend

Where do you guys park the trailers to camp? Do you pay?

Mammoth RV Park, across from Shady Rest.. approx. $45 a night (that includes tax, etc.... Full hook ups, dump station, pool, spa, etc..... Or there are hotels 1/2 mile down the street.

Snow is good on west side, starting to get thin on the east of 395.

My kids are age 2 , 6 , 8 and 10. I took them sledding last year with the wife and it was a very interesting to say the least.

Trying to get a trip with adult friends / family this weekend or next. Not sure which weekend ... yet.

Had a good ride last weekend at Mammoth. Me and Christina met up with Steve and Susan (Stndinup), and Jim and Sheri (James6000).
Sat. started out up into Crater Flats, pretty hard and icy in the am, but started to soften up around 11. Off trailed it from there near Deer Mtn into Deadman Creek. Steve and Susan then headed to the lodge to get some lunch, quite awhile later we run into Jim and Sheri that said Steve had lost a spindle bolt and went back to the rentals to see if he could get a new one. After a fix, we all headed up to the the Vista and played on the San Joaquin ridge above the vista.
Sunday, Steve and Susan headed home, Chris and I went out early along the C and G trail areas, tried the vista again, but the wind kept it all icy. So we just cruised around, playing in the trees trying to find some softened up areas.
Great riding with you guys, and fun times with drinks and dinner on Sat nite, too bad conditions weren't the best, but it's spring time and Sierra Cement at it's finest.

PS- Shady Rest is pretty slushy and anything near the 395 is done... some pics at the vista, and for NASCAR fans couple pics from Bristol the weekend before. That Sunday was my B-day and Chris surprised me with plane and race tickets!....... and she likes to go sledding, she's a keeper!!!!!!!
