The plumber

Ryder,

I am in the tax bracket that your buddy is going to tax. I have tried to figure out how I am going to work this out and have come up with 3 solutions.

1. I will lay off at least 2 people currently making over 40K a year. Would you please do these layoff's for me. You should be able to get your buddy to just give these guys 40K out of his pocket. It won't hurt him to much, and should take the sting off of finding out they are losing their jobs.

2. I will cut pay across the board. Would you please come and explain to my employees why I have to cut their income so that your buddy can give it back to them if there is any left after it goes through the governments hands?

3. You can volunteer to pay the difference between what they now make and what their going to make after I cut their pay out of your pocket, or better yet see if you can get your buddy to step up and prove he believes what he says, and get him to agree to pay it out of his pocket.

I've had to do this before in my business, and it's never fun.

Maybe you could volunteer to do this for all business that make over 250K.

1. no prob... If you can't do it, I will...
2. Fine with me.... though don't be complaining if they all leave or their productivity drops... you get what you pay for....
3. pay the difference... sure.. if you pay the difference between my net and your gross salary.....

For the first two... aren't you sacrificing your company for the short term gain of keeping your salary at the current rate? Seems like the smart thing to do would keep the business running strong and efficient.

You forgot a couple...
4. Increase the productivity of your workers, making the money they earn a higher percentage compared to the money you pay them.
5. Increase the size of your business, increase your profits, so you net zero change...
6. Just fricken deal with it....

I totally feel sorry for you dude... really I do...

Oh... How did you get by before the bush tax cuts? That might be the answer to how you solve the problem..... I love these types of arguments... I also love how the top peoples salary are so quick to change in the upward direction as a company increases profitability, but when that change comes in a downward manor, that is never the option... always cut the bottom guys.

Oh come on, you can not POSSIBLY be this dense about the economy.
Truly, it's not possible.

You talk like all you have to do is walk out the front door and say, I want a bigger buisness. I think I will hire 20 people, pay them 50k a year each and let the profits roll in.

Oh wait, I have to FIND THE WORK for them to do.
Well, I guess I can just tell them Ruffy said they have to be better at their jobs or he will come fire them for me.

Tell me, what do YOU think it takes to run a buisness?
What do you have to do?
Where do you get the work for the buisness you have??
How do you compete?
Where do you put the cost to profit margin?
How much money can you put into tech. vs employee contribution?
How much money can you save for a rainy day?
How much money am I going to lose to Ifta, SS, Income tax, fed tax, state tax, licensing fee taxes, insurance, health care, etc, etc, etc,

Believe this or not, BUISNESSES ARE NOT THERE FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO LIVE OFF OF!

If you get your wish, 3 things will happen by the end of Jan.
1. Wall Street will crash to below 7k and stay there.
2. There will be mass layoffs around the country.
3. YOUR TAXES WILL GO UP!.

Print out that list of 3 things.
In Feb. we can discuss how I was right.

Welcome to reality.
People run companies to MAKE MONEY.
Not give it away.
If the company goes south or they can't survive, the employees get the ax.
That's how it works.

BS question... as that will happen no matter who becomes president.... Oh, except for the last one...

You know... If you ask a person that doesn't own a business and has little experience with running a business a business question, shouldn't you be the fool for asking someone that question in the first place?

That is like me asking you a power system question and then ridiculing you because you gave me a stupid answer......

A question was asked, and I gave the best answer I could come up with on the spot... If you want sound business advice, a guy on snowest named ruffryder might not be your best bet. LMAOAY

Funny how if they are not milking the company for maximum money they can take out of it, they are giving it away.... Got polar extremes?

So Ruffy, you are completely 100% okay with penalizing someone who works twice as hard as the next guy and rewarding Joe Blow who sits on his couch all day drinking beer? Just so we're clear here.

Work hard = Get penalized
Don't Work = Get rewarded

And if you feel like answering this with your smart alec, rolling of the eyes, no substance response, please don't even bother.

The difference is if you asked me a power system question I would tell you "I don't know" then ask you to explain it to me. Why do you admit to not knowing about running a buisiness yet spout off about it? Oh yeah - a liberal

Very good point... and probably a means for not responding to a post right away..... :o

If I told you the answer what would you learn and what about your knowledge would you know that is lacking?

I learn much better by trying to reason my way through something... then if it is wrong, you can go back and find what assumptions that were made and why you made them in the first place.. It is a more through means of learning for me.. Explaining doesn't work very well for me, as nothing can ever be explained fully, and the person doing the explaining always makes assumptions of knowledge that the person he is explaining to doesn't have, or has incorrectly.

I think I need to wash my feet.... they taste disgusting...

You got me though... :beer;

Ollie,

Unfortunately, I strongly believe those things will happen regardless of who wins the Election. Of course I think we'll see "7" even before November. Hope I'm wrong.

Figure out the flat tax for crisss sakes. Pay when you spend. Maybe less on basics. Then WHEN the libs give out $$ to the deprived they gotta be carful how they spend it. Oh yea, you would need to figure out what to do with all the tax accountants, lawers and the IRS.

Quick answer ... hell no...Long answer ... but.... Do I think society pays people equally based upon their function and importance in society? Not really..... consumerism in America has skewed what we deem as important and necessary.. Or wants have slowly been evolving into our needs.

Though, I would argue that Obama doesn't want to reward people for not working at all.... Your argument seems to say there are only two choices... but there are always more options...

Look at farmers... you know... the ones that make food to eat.. Seems kind of important to me, but yet on average they don't make very good money. Does that seem right? Look at plastic surgeons... the ones putting fake tits in any and everything.. they make tons of money... but yet serve no really important function in society, besides our retarded sense of self-esteem / beauty. These are just examples I could think of quickly... there are many other jobs that serve very important functions in this country, but don't get paid nearly as much as there importance would seem to warrant. Another example would be our military.. they are dying for us, the people of the US, and yet we pay them just the minimum amount we can. Shouldn't they be paid more?

Not sure if that makes any sense at all, or even if it is relevant, but here is where I ended up regardless.... :beer;

We have still yet to figure out who the make up of that 40% that doesn't pay income tax is... I will resist with the roll eyes on that one... just one...

It's fact.

The bottom 20% taxes -4%
20% -40% -1%
40% to 60% pay 4%
60% to 80% pay 10%
80% to 100% pay 86%WTF

NOT FAIR.

The reason 30-40% don't pay tax, is they do pay tax...they just get it all back in their tax returns. Then they go buy a sound system for their single wide. So why pay someone more that's welfare?

OK i have a small business and make way less thin $250 about $60,000 this year i by stuff from a big business if their tax's go up the price of their stuff go's up to off set their tax's so my cost cost up and the times are tuff so I'll will have to raise my prices or cut wages i pay $15-20 Ph so i will cut wages so i do not loose work to the next guy so then I'll pay $11-16 Ph to off set my cost

At least 20 mentions of Joe the Plumber by McCain during the debate tonight. I bet Joe Sixpack is pizzed!

If he can't parlay this into some business.......

Ruffy,

It took a lot of patience not to let loose at the beginning of this thread, but I held out and am glad I held it in, I like the way your thoughts are headed.

One Source to look to to find a major portion of your 40 percent of non tax payers is the USDA.

Farmers are always getting crap because of the huge chunk of money that the farm bill takes from the federal budget. The part that is always left out of the complaint is the fact that the WELFARE program of the U.S. is operated by the USDA....People see farm bill and assume that the farmer gets all the money. I don't recall the exact percent, but this is one example of non-tax payers hiding in the shadows.

To me the farm bill is crucial to agriculture to help farmers through disaster, very seldom have I been written a direct check, but without help to those who have seen devastating floods, drought, heat, cold, etc, my own agricultural infrastructure would fail.= Hunger

Not to hijack or swing this into another topic, but just an example of hidden gov. dependents.
