I am willing to bet Obama wishes he hadn't told the plumber he was going to take the plumbers money and give it away.

The plumber is ALL over the air waves this morning talking about how a poor plumber who is FINALLY starting to get ahead is going to be destroyed by Obama and his socialist views.

The Plumber is putting a face on Obama's plans and people are taking notice. When Obama talks about people making more than 250k, everyone thinks of Donald Trump, when in fact it is the plumbers out there that will take it in the shorts.

Even THE NEW YORK TIMES is giving this story play.

I turned on the TV and it was on the local news channel by happenstance, and the story about the plumber was on

It showed the plumber talking to Obama, he said his piece about the taxes

Then Obama responded, BUT IT CUT OFF THE LAST PART!! It didn't air the part where Obama said he'd spread his wealth around


I was soo pizzed and started cussin the lib media, wife had to calm me down and remind me my kids were in the house, they were staring wide eyed at me with little grins on their faces

If he can't raise prices at the same rate, wich he can't with all the competition right now, he has to make cuts. There go part or all of the bonuses, raises, and if it's bad enough, lay offs or down sizing. How is that good for the economy? How the hell am I supposed to buy a nos kit without a Christmas bonus?

The owner won't make less, he'll just let someone go and do the work himself just like he used to.

That is the whole point of hiring someone to do the job... you can pay them less than what you are worth, and you can charge more for their service then what you pay them...

Instead of doing the job (like it should be done) with 20 workers, they'll force 10 workers to somewhat do the job.


This I KNOW happens first hand when a company struggles or doesn't have that all important bottom line they aim for.

Yes, they were needed. How do you expand a company without hiring more workers?? If you have one worker doing the work of 1.3 workers, then you hire another worker. You can now expand the workload to 2+. That is the way you expand a company.

It absolutely amazes me the amount of people who are totally clueless about finances.

Why would a person work his azz off just to give the money to the government?? Where is the insentive?
30%+ of this country doesn't even pay taxes. Why the heck should I work harder just for the privilage to pay more taxes so the people who are too lazy to work can sit at home and watch tv?

There is my example... pretty extreme I would say.. You make 300k and give 50 % away in taxes. You make 200k (33% reduction in gross earnings) and you get taxed 25% and you make the same as before. This is a break even point. So I don't think the difference in income tax from before the bush tax cuts to after was 25%... Therefore I am curious as to why you chose the numbers for your argument... it seems bs to me.

We make 95% of our revenue in the summer. He has been keeping guys through the winter for two reasons. 1) to keep productive, trained laborers on staff. 2) because he is a good guy.
When things get tight, the winter job goes away, no more milking the clock. There will not be other jobs out there for them to go to because everyone is in the same situation, so we get them back in the spring but didn't carry them all winter. The company still has the same revenue, but with 25% less payroll.
The workers will then be eligable for government programs, so we will need to raise taxes again to pay the new burden.
Sounds like a great way to go.

I am in the tax bracket that your buddy is going to tax. I have tried to figure out how I am going to work this out and have come up with 3 solutions.

1. I will lay off at least 2 people currently making over 40K a year. Would you please do these layoff's for me. You should be able to get your buddy to just give these guys 40K out of his pocket. It won't hurt him to much, and should take the sting off of finding out they are losing their jobs.

2. I will cut pay across the board. Would you please come and explain to my employees why I have to cut their income so that your buddy can give it back to them if there is any left after it goes through the governments hands?

3. You can volunteer to pay the difference between what they now make and what their going to make after I cut their pay out of your pocket, or better yet see if you can get your buddy to step up and prove he believes what he says, and get him to agree to pay it out of his pocket.

I've had to do this before in my business, and it's never fun.

Maybe you could volunteer to do this for all business that make over 250K.
