~~The Official Phazer Thread~~

You can always turn the boost down a bit so it isnt maxed out all the time, that would help for reliability. I would love to try one out, I looked at one before I got my Apex.

Since i can get a turboed phazer for the price of my RMK im considering the change. But I'm not convinced yet. I really don't that care that much of the performance. As long as it is easy to ride, and reliable - thats what worth something to me. I ride about 3000 KMs a year, and thats one 2stroke engine per year...

I bought an 07 S.C. phazer and even though I haven't got to ride it yet I've been told there great. I chose a phazer mainly because I didn't want to be just another guy unloading a dragon. Where I ride you don't see many of these little sleds.

a boosted phazer can make 160hp (boondockers kit) and with a longer track like a 153x2.5 cut down 14.5 wide they can give big bores a run for there money. cause ya gotta remember, at elevation a boost phazer will still make 160hp, a n/a 2 stroke will not (3% hp loss per 1000ft). i;ve seen tphazers show 900 cats how its done.

You are 90% correct with that statement. At 10k feet for example, any N/A (normally aspirated) sled will lost about 30% of its sea level HP. A boosted sled will not make peak power because of air density, but it will still be close to its full HP when the turbo or SC is spooled up.

Dimebag,

If you are looking for a sled that is turn key and ride all year a Phaser will do exactly that. Yamaha doesn't even recommend a valve adjustment for something like 30,000 miles. It could be different on the Phaser, but I know it is way beyond the life of the rest of the chasis. If you like to boondock and carve then a boosted phaser would be awesome for that and I think you'll really like how nimble it is.

Anybody tried venture shocks on the skid of a phazer for a two-up?

Looking for some help with my phazer. It is a 2007 mountain lite. We have a cabin that's about a 20 mile ride in. Often I tow my fiance with a cargo sled attached behind the phazer and she is towed behind water ski style with rope and downhill skis. She wants to ride, but I'm worried about the suspension. I stiffened the skid up with a pair of RTX springs, but need more support. Someone suggested putting on the double back shocks of a venture. Anybody ever heard of doing this? A little guidance would be appreciated.

i woulda figured you would be fine with rtx springs but if not you could do this rear float upgrade from carbonsled. this replaces your torsion springs with a fox float so you can virtually run the rear as stiff as you need. its a great improvement over stock none the less. Also the setup with the air resivior would be your best bet. http://www.carbonsled.com/rear_suspension_yamaha.htm

yeah, just checking on a cheaper fix

Hey, thanks a bunch on that thread if I save some money this winter that looks like that's the way to go. I was just wondering if there was a cheaper way to beef up the back.

I had to pay 250 bones for the RTX springs. Though, there new last year, so I could probably get rid of them. Anyway thanks for the heads up, if you have any other ideas, please let me know.

08

Got the 08 outa storage.. the engine self - diagnosis warning indicator light is flashing and the starter wont even try to engage, shows a code 11. The battery is fully charged. Any help as to where to start  Thanks Dino

Code 11: Cylinder identification sensor or circuit problem. maybe check the manual to see if there are troubleshooting tips? i'd say your best bet is to check with your dealer. sounds like it could be anything from bad/improper connection to a part of the cicuit or sensor being fried.

Talked to the dealer also, he pretty much said the same thing...will tear into it and look for a bad wire or connection. All I have is the owners manual and like most it say to have the dealer look at it  So just where is this "cylinder sensor" located at ??? Thanks Dino

I was in the process of changing the oil on my 07 and when I pulled the oil filter of a small spring (about 2-3 inches long) fell out of the filter. I do not have the owner's manual and I asked a dealership if there was anything strange about changing the oil and all they said was that it was just a pain in the butt. Any help or knowledge of this spring???

A guy I know wants to pay me to put a supercharger kit on his 07 phazer but I have no clue what to charge him. Anybody have any suggestions as to what a fair price would be? I'm a Polaris guy so I don't have much experience with Yamaha and really have no idea what all is involved with this installation. Thanks, Sonny

if you don;t have any yamaha experience tell him to pay a dealer to do and they will do it right.

If you've never installed one, his best bet is to go with the dealer. How much time a guy spends wrenching on a boosted sled revolves around having a good installation done. I'm not saying you couldn't do it, but with limited experience working on 4 stroke yamahas it will probably turn out better from the dealer. From what I've seen its about 1000.00 to have a dealer install boost.

well really u can charge whatever you want. like motojunkie said, dealer installed boost is about 1k so i'd say anything under that. but in all honesty i'd say you should tell him to go find a professional if he's willing to pay, no offence to you but the installation of a turbo kit is key and it can sometimes make or break how well a kit performs. if you do it wrong and something breaks ur buddy won;t be too impressed and it could easily be a 10,000 dollar eff up if something is done wrong and it breaks

Thanks roughrider99. Oh, by the way, I'm ASE master certified with A9 and L1 certs and have been turning wrenches since I was old enough to hold one. I can do a better job than any dealer, that's why he asked me to do it. I didn't ask if you thought I was capable of doing it, I just wanted to know what a fair price would be.

Hey guys i am a ski-doo guy. I am borrowing a 07' Phazer Mtx for the fiance to ride out west for a few days. The sled was purchased on the East side of South Dakota and the owner rides it in the midwest. Is there any clutching or gearing changes that I need to be aware of before i go out there? Basically what is the High Elevation set up and what is involved. Elevation will be from 8,600 - 9,700

I am picking up the sled on my way through South Dakota from Minneapolis to ride the next day so any adjustments or changes will be made when we arrive out of the back of the truck.

Thanks for your time

Cheers
Shawn

depending on the elevation for midwest, you may or may not neet to change weights, i'd bet that the sled will do just fine and you won;t need to do anything.

Sounds to me like you should pay him after the install. That way you can add "Phazer Super Charger" to your certifications. I'm sure you won't learn anything on your first install, after all your the Master. ;)

It has been running at 1,000ft - 1400ft around here. I know with my XP it is a 5 gram difference in pin weight to 9k... but different clutching is a different story, just the same principles
