The moose threw the first punch...

That is complete stupidity on the snowmobilers part. This just pisses me off, the video is miss labled. The moose was not angry, moose are naturally aggressive yes, but it was being threatened by some dum @zz snowmobiler. :mad2: How hard is it to go a different direction and leave the moose alone. Good lord, enjoy the fact that you got to see one in the wild.

First off, this really needs to be removed from here! Secondly, his first form of self defense was his sled. He should have at least tried to divert coarse or turn around. He had plenty of time to get out of the way! Only after failing a diversion by him self or the other rider should he have used lethal force. Encountering wildlife on foot is one thing but when you are on a machine that's just plain fu#ked up!

One must realize he was on a Polaris. Not much there for a first line of defense. He was prolly thinking " what if the Moose steps on my a arm and the glue comes appart?" Or "what if my piston comes apart when I try To get away?" A lot of unknowns when you can't trust the get away vehical.

This video just sickens me, and honestly I think this guy deserves to be shot in the knee caps to see how it feels... Seems like the right thing to do.

But Snowmow makes a good point, maybe he had the intention of doing something else but feared he would have a failure due to unreliable equipment and then would be facing the wrong direction and would be vulnerable to an attack from the rear, which then would make it very hard to fire the gun he for some reason had casually resting next to his chest, likely kept there in case he tried to sleep at a local cabin but other fellow snowmobilers took the beds first. Or in case he was stuck overnight in the mountains and needed a way to dig a snow cave, might not be the most effective way but from analyzing this guy he likely had a large supply of ammo nearby making it somewhat almost possible.

Im curious now do any sledders on here ride with a gun? I know in Canada its a lot harder to own a gun at all, let alone a pistol or somethings small enough to cary around so I havnt seen anyone with them. Im not trying to judge you if you do, because there is a point to it (depending on who you are and your intentions), just curious.

Aaaactually, Snowmow, that looks like a ski doo...and THAT'S why he didn't get off the trail and chose a different route.
