The Get your FIX for the RMK 800

Thread Rating
5.00 star(s)
Put 30 gallons of gas through the fix thus far. Awesome power off the bottom especially with the Exhaust valves plugged. Turning 8250-8300 rmp.

Can you say "winning"?

Harrysmith500, well said and funny but truthfully the pms mtntk kit has left me feeling like my sled runs better now then ever before.

The other thing that is worth mentioning regarding the stock 2010 update from Polaris. These motors stock just continue to lose more power besides some reliability the longer that they survive day after day of use so as they have more miles put on them they wear more and the cylinder clearance or tolerance becomes worse or even more loose. So unfortunately the longer that this motor last it just continues to wear and thus slowly but surely makes less power until the piston scores and slaps enough until the failure occurs.

So to wrap up my short post is that like Harry says the pms/mtntk kit is like Charlie says "Winning"

This is exactly what happened to my assault, It would idle really low, always took 3-4 tries to go into reverse, every ride would seem to loose more rpm and even had trouble keeping the spark plug boots on the plugs, then finally went into limp mode, pto side piston all scored up, i am going to get warrenty to eat this one but thats just to get me through the season, i will do the fix next fall, glad to here its working well for everyone.

Time to Check

Sounds like it might be time to check my pistons out :face-icon-small-fro. Thanks for all of you posting this good info.

My cousin is riding my sled in these videos. All 3 of these videos were shot back to back to back.

Were riding near Duck Creek Village in Southern Utah, more specifically where the land slide was about 3 years ago on Cedar Canyon Highway.

My sled has a PMS/ MTNTEK "THE FIX", Ported cylinder, SLP heads, VForce 3 reeds, PCV w/ Auto Tune. SLP single w/ HPS can. The mid range is super fat and you can hear it burble, I hadn't accepted the trims from my Auto Tune yet and that explains why it sounds fat.

Thanks for the vids, that's awesome. I am officially getting old. Lol I can't take that noise anymore. I had to put a stock silencer back on my sled. My ears still hurt from over a month ago.

Harry, I think I asked you this before but can't remember, is the SLP head worth installing?

"THE FIX" going strong

We would like to thank eveybody for the good comments along with the help spreding the word around on THE FIX kits from MTNTK, It has really helped a lot of people restore their faith in the D8 engine. We hope everybody is having fun and enjoying the snow again. We are still getting kits in to fill all the back orders we have

West Yellowstone EXPO

MTNTK will be at the West Yellowstone EXPO this weekend so stop on by and talk to Shawn, Rob or Corbett

td8 with the fix?

How has this kit been working with the turboed 800? How do the Wisco pistons like the extra heat from being on boost? I have the 08 800 dragon with the BD PG turbo kit with the mini intercooler. I have the updated and it is working good, but I am sure it is just a matter of time before I will need the fix. Just trying to look at my options and get ready.

PMS, I have an '08 with the update and the stock burndown, do you recommend having the case machined and the 2010 cylinder installed with your kit? I want to keep this sled for at least a couple more years and possibly as a back-up sled so reliability is high on my list of requirements.

Thanks

How many of you guys checked your squish after the install? I bolted mine up with a updated head that was shaved by Carl's .020. My squish ended up at .050 :face-icon-small-sho. I pulled that head and put on my standard pre-update head and it still measured .055 the minimum recommended my MTK. What are you guys seeing?

I used .062 solder

I would also like to know if anyone has checked their squish? I have a PMS kit coming and wonder if I may need to open up the squish for the turbo?

Heres a kit using a taller stock oem piston, with less taper so less rock in the cylinder, and our billit head and shim adapter with gaskets. Set up for turbos and high elevation mtn riding giving more acceleration, power and reliability. Can also be set up for low elevation or lake racers as well.
With different compression ratios for whatever application you may have.

http://www.terraalpsracing.com/product/800-ho-porting-and-billit-head-01

there is a kit available that has cast pistons and the shim but also different heads for $875 from Terra Alps racing went and had a look at it , deffinately the way to go if your thinking about doing this and most would feel better not using the wisco pistons, so this is another choice

Just got off the the phone with Ted from Terra Racing. Pistons are an OEM cast variety, vs forged. They are not a Polaris piston. Port timing is change by the thickness of the shim. Kit c/w Billet head (compression ratio of your choice), gaskets, pistons, pins, bearings. Because they are using a high quality cast piston, this kit would address the worry that people have about the Wiseco's. $875 complete. Just another choice. Sending products to the states is straight forward using Canada Post. No taxes etc on the Canada side of the border. Just passing on info for everybody.
