THE Evolution OF Sled Weights-

Thread Rating
5.00 star(s)
IF you want a light sled just go out and by a 96 ultra. I think the ultra is for ultra light and that is why I still ride one.

Actually I have an 8 XP jacka$$. My Ultra is 502lbs with water, chaincase oil, and 2.5 gallons of gas.

So stonehands are you going to tell me the TApex is a good boondockin sled?

They rip on the big hills.

What was the cost of the CMX in '99? estimated worth now?

Have the CMX's evolved much since '99?

:D
here
99 700-crazy MTN 141 542# *****

08 800 154X 521# !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
this is a list from our note book over the last 8 years of weighing sleds....its funny it took 9 years for a manufacturer to beat the weight of the CMX
PS: got permission from DARKO to post this.

  :D i dont think the dealer would let us scale one and i dont know anyone that ride one, sorry:(

At least the Yam did not have a folded skid and a Broken Jack shaft like the o8 xp I saw last weekend stuck on the side of a bowl cause he hit a small tree.
But thank god for the tracked rhino that brought him the SkiDoo parts department:face-icon-small-win

I have no idea if an Apex is a good boondocking sled. I have never ridden one. But my 900 poo is 600lbs full of fuel ready to ride and the Holz xp I have ridden at around 510 to 515 ready to ride is at least half the work to boondock with and really shines in the deep pow in the trees. I can only assume that a sled that weighs close to 700 lbs ready to ride would not be nearly as easy to throw around as the lighter sled no matter how much power it has.

how much does fuel and such weigh.

Ive got an 05 m7 mod. We weighed on a couple of bathroom scales but It had no fuel in it. I also took off the oil injection. Like it sat it weighed 401. After getting it out of the shop ive never taken the time to weigh with fuel. Im curious how much the fuel weighs and how much i lost by removing the oil injection

If it didn't matter, 75% of the mountain sleds wouldn't be 2 strokes!

So true!! Riding last weekend in the trees of N. Idaho I probally seen 75 different sleds and out of those I seen 1 stock Apex with and older gentlemen riding it and a Turbo Nitro...all the rest were 2-strokes. The Turbo 4-Stokes rule in one area....open hills.

1980 el'Tigre....411 lbs.w/steel frame, steel leaf spring front susp, all steel rear susp, aluminum bellypan. See what all this fancy technology has done??:beer;

First I wouldn't have any reason to follow you. As I stated previously I like deep powder and technical tree riding. Anyone can sit on the seat of their dads apex point it up the hill and hang on. By the way does your mom make you wear your seatbelt. Secondly even if you were Hulk Hogan and could throw your dads Apex (Camper Special 1500 special edition) around in the trees you surely couldn't do it all day. I'm glad that you enjoy riding your 1/2 ton up and down the hard pack hill, to each their own.

Boy does the truth hurt. Didnt say their wasnt a light weight sled out there just not one that can compete. Apex is heavy but it doesnt feel heavy in deep with lots of hp. I just dont want to spend $10000 and poorly built lightweight pos everyyear, Id rather have a heavy tank that rides light with double or triple the hp and is RELIABLE.
PS *Edited*

just going to state the facts-My buddy HAD a bone stock apex, until his crank went out on him. The sled only had 2,100 miles on it. He bought the thing because he likes to pull(or in his case turn the key)and go and not worry. Plus, all he has ever had was Yamaha. He now has an "unreliable" 2-stroke, and loves it.
