Tempest Goggles

Backcountry w yellow lens.
They all use the same technology.
My buddy runs the Titan helmet with the goggles. (They were developed together and work seamlessly together)
the tempest goggles arrived and i went with the infinity style in blue and a spare yellow lens. cost was 255.
they come in a nice box but i'll never use it since the goggles will live in the cloth sleeve like all goggles come with. i'd prefer they deduct the cost of the box from the price as an option.
the cloth sleeve does have an additional pocket to store a spare lens.
the goggle's foam seal is thicker and these fit on my 509 helmet no problem.
no battery pack hanging off which is great and only one button which when pressed, lights up the LED battery status gauge. lifting up on the tab that the battery status button is on exposes the charging port.
the pic of the clear lens is the internal, heated lens.
magnets attach the lenses and they are very strong as someone else also mentioned. that's a much better attachment method than the previous ABOMS. as the tempest rep told me, these goggles have been completely re-designed.

Is there really no way to turn them off? On days I use my heated goggles, I carry a spare pair. But If there's no way to turn them off, the battery on my spare pair would drain while in my pack or tunnel bag,
Yeah that's one of my main issues with them... they have no off switch. So you cannot charge them and leave them in the trailer; they will power up and run down before you ever leave for a ride. You have to have them inside and plugged in the day before. Major design oversight, IMO.
I've never had an issue with battery going down when not in use, in storage. I bring them inside like I do with the rest of my gear. Keep in mind, they don't just turn on because it's cold, the sensors need to detect moisture first.

that's what i'm thinking. Rob brings up a good potential thing to watch out for but these have been out for over a year and i didn't see any reviews that mentioned that being a problem.
I bought a set of the Tempest goggles this year too. I haven't tried them with my helmet yet, but after reading this thread I'm going to tonight. The fit against my face isn't great. I have a pretty wide, fat face and wear XL/XXL helmets depending on the brand. They seem like they would fit a narrower face shape much better. Would be nice if they indicated the fit style on their website.
Seems like there might be a little bit of distortion looking through the lenses. I tried to find a protective layer that needed peeled off, but I didn't find one. Might be a side effect of the coating that heats the lense?
According to the instructions included in the box, for the goggles to come on two conditions have to be met: 1.) temperature has to be low enough AND 2.) the humidity sensor has to sense a high enough level of humidity. It says right in there not to store your goggles in a damp gear bag or put them back in the case when they are damp because the humidity will get trapped and if cold they will turn on and run the battery out. You can store them in the cold IF it's dry. So leaving them in a trailer with wet gear and sleds probably won't work.
