How's The Grooming Going Tampico

Has Vic groomed all of the trails yet? Apple Country in Wenatchee has been grooming since early December and the trails are in great shape in the Colockum and Naneum.

The loop was groomed this morning, up middle fork and down northfork roads, all the side hills were cut out and in good shape. Middle fork below Tree Phones is still a little choppy. Jackass was groomed last night also, don't know how far up.

Conditions were great up high, much improved snow conditions versus a week ago. Super Bowl had a few tracks, but people were dropping in as I left.

Pretty good day up there today. Got to the snopark fairly early and there was already 10 or so rigs. Snow was decent, really only saw a few groups other than at the snopark. I was pretty chilly.

Rode Jackass today, road was freshly groomed. The loop was reportedly in great shape as of yesterday, also.

Was very warm up high, I was surprised at how much snow we had lost since last Saturday at around the 5-6k foot level. Snow depth is still below normal in my view. Forecast is fair with a chance of a little snow this weekend. If it gets colder, scratchers will be a must on those trails recently groomed.

The diagonal parking is basically up to the majority of users, I tend to get input on both sides of the argument. The main thing is that we can't block people in as sometimes happened in the past.

SUCKY WEATHER FORECAST!!!

:face-icon-small-sadAT SNOW PARK LEVEL - I think it is going to be a tough week; we should see between 8-12" of new snow by tomorrow noon, then it looks ****ty. After that, the daytime temps will rise to the mid to upper 30's with rain from Thursday to next Tuesday, and the amounts look heavy (1-2" by Friday, plus 4 rainy additional days after that). As some of you are aware, Ahtanum Creek is fairly iced up, and I for see flooding potential along the bridges from ice dams. Snow levels are forecast to rise to 5-6k feet from Wednesday night through Friday.

Due to the mid level Ahtanum riding areas not having a huge amount of snow to begin with, I think the roads and water levels will be ok once the ice jamming danger clears out.

As my own place is very close to the creek; this is probably the largest potential forecasted flood threat I have seen in the last 8 years or so:frown:.

I sure liked the snow forecast of 3 days ago alot better!

I hope to post regularly the next 5 days or so, please check road/bridge conditions starting on Thursday morning, the 13th.

Sorry to bring potentially bad news, this is sure kind of a sucky la nina.

Tampico, please make the appropriate phone calls and have the weather forecast changed to colder temps. I'm sure that a man of your status can handle a task as simple as this with ease. Thank you on behalf of all the sledders wanting to ride Tampico this weekend. :amen:

At 1300 at the snow park, partly cloudy, with occasional light rain and 29F. We received about 7" last night. The plow tractor was headed up to plow the snowpark this morning. The snow changed to sleet and freezing rain about 10 this morning, before that, the snow was perfect powder. Those that hit it today probably had a great day:face-icon-small-hap!

Green lake looks to have received around a foot or so, temps were 12F at 1700 yesterday, at 1300 it was 34F (@ 6k feet). Looks to be a stiff wind up higher.

Temps for tomorrow at the snow park is forecast @ 37F; Temps Friday through Sunday>43, 41, 39. Super Bowl should be filling in nicely, though.

Hope the NWS is wrong this time....

Todays weather was partly sunny with occasional rain, upper 30's in the canyon. We didn't get the huge rains forecasted. The creek is slowly rising, no ice dams noticed yet.

Green Lake hit a high of 39F, was above 34F most of the day.

Long term forecast (out to 14 days) doesn't look so good, but I'll keep prayin'

I will try to get a groomer update tomorrow.
