Tampico Snow Report - 2011 - Part 3

U need to drive up middle fork for about 3 mi I unloaded at 1 mile and rode on a lot of dirt. Huge moguls from whites ridge to tree phones. U could still find a lot of untouched hills and snow in the trees, some good some hard overall it was a good day I got 59.2 miles on. It was still deep enough to get stuck.

Went the last 2 sundays; put on 53+ miles yesterday. Road is the pits all the way down from clover flats untill you run out of snow. Was decent up high, backside still has a lot of snow (surprised me a bit). Tree has been cut out. I am thinking that whites pocket is at least 2 weeks out for parking, Tree phones 3-4 weeks depending on the weather. The melt was really not that extensive over the last week.

Probably my last ride (maybe an afternoon in mid may). I have been informed that there is a lawn rake with my name on it...

How come everytime summit8rmk posts there is a stuck PRO? Just wondering...

See the post on the DNR situation, time to call our legislators.

Have a great year everybody,

Tampico

Oh, believe me, you were stuck. We were just too busy pulling your butt to the top of the hill to take pictures. Should have just shoved ya back to the bottom. Ha Ha Besides if you went half the places I go, you'd get stuck too.

The wife and I are thinking about coming that way Thursday night. Is it worth the trip. Looks like there is more snow there then most places. If someone is around a tour guide would be cool, if not could someone points us in the right direction. We don't want to ride trails if at all possible. Meadows, hills and trees is what we like.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.................

Flood Warning this Weekend, May 14th to the 16th.

I know some lucky guys are still riding, just wanted to let you know that there is a intense and wet system going to hit us tomorrow through Sunday with up to 2+" of rain at the lower levels. With the warmer weather, this will produce flooding, especially on the roads going up. With all that snow...well, you know the rest.

Your local headquarters of Ahtanum creek whitewater excursions. This weekend only. We will launch from my back deck.

Thanks for the caution Tampico, we are planning to head up White pass for a ride tomorrow.

Do you (or anyone else) know how the roads are looking and how far up you have to drive to find snow and what the moguls are looking like up the middle fork recently? I haven't been up to Tampico since the end of February so its been quite a while  ... looking to get a ride in there soon if we can, just curious what the conditions are looking like once we do hit snow and how far up you have to drive at this point?

Thanks:beer;

As of tuesday, lots of dirt above Whites Ridge. But there were some tough spots to get thru to reach there. Good luck! Prolly have to get to the 4 and a half to get it right....

Well we canceled our sledding trip again today as it wasn't looking good and it looks like Tampico's talk of flood warnings was well justified, lol...

The day wasn't a total waste though, I wound up buying a 3-place enclosed trailer:face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-hap

Congrats on the trailer.....now you can sell the trailer and the 900 and buy a PRO, LOL

According to Snotel at Pigtail and Green Lake, we didn't lose a whole lot of snowpack. In fact, it was snowing at both places this morning, and they're calling for more all week. Don't put them sleds away yet, we got lots of riding left to do. Shooting for a 4th of July ride. What a season, first ride on 11/28/10 thru July. Awesome...9 months.

I talked to someone who road Saturday before the deluge; jeepers are now making it to Treephones. We had just under 3" of rain at my house this weekend. The creek stayed within its banks though (ruined a few of my fishin' holes though:face-icon-small-fro). Creek started falling around 3pm yesterday, this morning down about 6" from its high. Probably lots of little overflows in the DNR roads. Due to the cooler weather, Ahtanum Creek should be back to normal in 2-3 days. Thank gosh we don't have alfalfa down.

Thanks! I have a thread going in the Trucks & Trailers forum with some pictures as it progresses. For the moment the 4-place is for sale as well as my boat... I don't have nearly enough room for all this stuff, lol. After those sell we'll see what else should go, haha.

Thats good news, I saw Sunday morning that we got 6" of new at White pass.... :D:D:D

Should be some good riding if it stops long enough to make a day of it:rolleyes:

As of yesterday, there was still about 16" of snow in the TreePhones campground. Also a few big drifts just before the Y at TreePhones. Doable with 4x4s, tough with camptrailers, especially in the camping areas.

Middle Fork road will be closed (behind the work center) next Tuesday to Friday due to construction. You can go through the campground (main snowpark) up to the shoefly, hang a hard left and continue up when the lower portion of the road is closed.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend.

Lots of use anticipated this weekend due to the closure of the Naches RD trails to motorized traffic.
