Jeez, here's your snow report 12/30/11 PM
Sno-Park; 29F; 2" light blowing snow, no additional accum. expected. 2" snow total.
Green Lake; 20.3F, is showing 13" new snow since Thursday morning, convention center had 24" new.
This morning 20 rigs in new sno-park, 10 estimated at Whites Ridge (not official, heard it on the hill). I parked at McClain canyon on North Fork; only 2 rigs on that side. North fork road has about 2" on it, but it is fairly compact and better than expected. The gravel stopped wearing the carbides about grey rock trail area.
Beau and I rode up to Little Lake, once you hit 5.5k elevation, the new depth increases dramatically. From there we rode up into dead hole, about 14" new there. The open hills are climbable. We then rode up roller coaster (already broke out) into the bottom of convention center. Tough to get out on the first pass; pro's will have no problem since I left tracks just for them. Not a huge amount of carnage in there, still some virgin pulls left. Went to the top of Superbowl, couple of tracks in the bottom in and out; was blowing with crappy vision. We then broke out the trail to Blue Lake, 18+" new there in my estimate. Snow is deep, but heavy. Colder tonight, should be sunny and cold tomorrow and great conditions. We put on 38+ miles in 4+ hours. A pretty damn good day with lots of new powder and few tracks
. We had 7 stucks between us, need to refill my motrin bottle...
My advice for the snowesters: Park on North Fork, a pretty good sized camp area about .5 mile up from McClains canyon on north side (right) of road, don't block the entrance. With the pullouts before and McClains canyon, probably room for 15+ rigs total. All of this is before the big pull up to Dead Horse Flats interection. Road is decent and fairly smooth all the way to the top; after a night of settling, the SB should be awesome tomorrow. Klickitat meadows is probably fairly low on snow, but doable to get to Spencer Point.
Grooming still can't commence until enough is available to run from the sno-park. Quad and Jeep tracks are still a pain
, but not enough snow to berm to legally keep them out.
Forecast is ok for next week, extendeds get wetter and colder about 11 days out
!
Probably will ride on tomorrow or Sunday, Ski-Benders are having some rides Sunday and Monday. Let me know so I can prep on who's going when/where.
