Tampico 12/29/14 AM update

-4+" of new snow this morning at the sno-park level. Temps in the low 20's with a NE wind (cold!) and occasional light snow. Forecast is for cold temps this week with more snow possible late next weekend. The snow is dry and will not form much of a base for down low. Green Lake is showing 40"(?) a fairly large jump, with .7" increase of snow water equivalent since yesterday. Grooming down low would be marginal; am talking to the groomer operator and DNR about a way to get something going this week. Whoever is up there today should have a great time in areas that are safe from nuggets!

On 12-27-14 did anyone else get the 99 dollar ticket for not having discover pass displayed, even though you had it clearly displayed along with your snow park pass?
was parked at tree phone parking lot.

That would be like expecting a federal employee to have common sense by brushing away the snow.
Not likely.
Now your ticket is lost in the bureaucracy, can't fight it and now they will suck the amount out of your bank account when you don't pay.

Saw a lot of warning notices on Sunday. Some were for no pass, some wrong pass (WDFW), and others for not legible. Be sure to use the correct pass "Discover Pass", currebt on the dates and make sure you can clearly see the license number printed and make sure it is hanging from your mirror Pretty Simple.

snow park pass pays for grooming and parking lot sanitation. what does the discovery park pass provide in the winter?

Why the double up of parking passes required to access the area?

I am so mixed on user fees, on the face of it I like it because the people using it pay for it ( grooming).

The discovery pass is an extra tax on top of the other taxes we have to pay as state residents.

I had one last year but I have 2 motorcycles and 5 cars and the pass is now only good for two vehicles. So If I want to visit the parks without worrying about which vehicle I drive I need 4 passes for my family.

License fees just went up $20 ( city fee) so to pay the taxes to drive multiple vehicles and visit the parks is getting really expensive.

Unlike a raise in snowmobile tabs, I havn't seen a benefit to any of my increased fees.

Discovery pass is to help feed the Government beast and help pay for BS DOT projects on the westside. Like the big turd blossom Burtha stuck under Seattle. Wait for when they tax you by the miles you drive. I think their eventual goal is to keep everyone out of the forests and "Public" land. It starts with the harassment then legislation. They give you opportunities to fight it and argue but they schedule these public meetings during the week normally starting in the morning going several hours into the afternoon. Protesting is a joke because unlike the recent slew of protesters and occupiers some of us have jobs with actual work to do.

Rode yesterday. The parking lot was bladed all the way to the gravel, I wish they wouldn't do that. The berm was up but no grooming yet. The middle fork was pretty smooth going up but back to moguls on the way down. I was hoping to see the groomer on the way down but no such luck. The snow was good. The bowls were a little tracked up & the snow was inconsistent, some powder, some frozen, some crusted, some drifted, but overall pretty good. Around 6000' in the trees was great, especially the hillside just past eagles nest. The main runs were tracked up, but nobody touched the trees. We took care of that, but left some. Awesome day!
