Oh wow, alright I may wait until Sunday and see how the road looks to others then, looks like freezing rain in the forecast. Really not into backing even my little 2 place down an icy hill. I'm assuming it's a couple miles up the road to snow from the park?

Tree Phones is just over 5miles up and thats when it gets steep and narrow another 4 or so miles to Eagles Nest.

I have a little Sledbed 2 place 8'6"x10' that i take up there. It's light enough that i can disconnect it from the truck and turn it around myself then turn truck around and reconnect to the trailer.

In my honest opinion from riding up there this weekend, it's not worth a road trip to get to, and I'm not planning to ride again till there's more snow... there's just too many land mines and not enough terrain yet (and like Casey said, we know where to go and where not to go). I'd also be very concerned about the sidehill from treephones to eagles nest having enough traction, I'm sure it's probably getting polished up nicely from all the wheeled traffic and it's NOT a place you can safely back a trailer down on ice.... I wouldn't even pull a trailer up it. My recommendation is patience, unless it snows another foot by this weekend, I'm gonna sit home and twiddle my thumbs:face-icon-small-sad

Clover flats today. Pretty good snow up high. Climbed the big bowl and played around quite a bit off trail. Lots of powder today.

My friend and I also went up on Sunday but parked about a mile above tree phones at the beginning of the sidehills. Lots of stuff tracked up from the Saturday riders, but we still found a fair bit of fresh, untracked:face-icon-small-hap

Breaking trail into one of our favorite play hills.

Dropping into the Super bowl for the first time this season.

Heading toward the drifts at the north end of the ridge and doing a little playing... the 900 still remembers how to get off the ground a little bit!

I've been up about 4 times this year and it was the best ride yet. Looks like more snow to come in the next couple of days but I'll be at work this weekend unfortunately. Unless someone wants to go in the middle of next week I won't be up again until the next weekend

Tampico update

Tampico snow update:

About 2" new snow this morning at the sno-park. Temps in the low 30's still snowing at this time. Green Lake sno-tel was unavailable at this time.

The forecast is for warmer and potentially heavy rain at the lower elevations (we have a flood watch); with colder/drier conditions near Christmas.

Grooming will not commence until more snow is received. No berms are in place, so the roads are open to all users.

Lots of discussion about the new gate above Eagles Nest at the last groomers meeting; it will be open until the end of the normal grooming season - then supposedly closed until the road conditions dry out over the top of Darland. I will post more information when get it.

I will post more snow/grooming conditions as they warrant

I was hoping someone would have went today and posted conditions up high.:frown: My boy and I along with another friend are going tomorrow but was curious about conditions and how far up you have to drive to unload.

we went up this afternoon in the RZR and today u could unload at the snowpark! Its raining hard down low so who knows what its gonna look like tomorrow. Plenty of wet new snow today.

We only went up to eagles nest and it was lookin good up there! Supposed to snow again early in the morning so...????

We parked at Treephones. Had no problem getting there. Was snowing hard all day. Very wet and heavy snow. Starting to get some base now but still need more to cover everything up. Between the poor visibility and hidden stumps, sled travel was slow to say the least. No issues though. We did drop into the Superbowl Not a bad ride but not a great ride. Was snowing at Treephones when we left but not sticking. By the time we got to Whites Ridge it was pouring rain.(4:00 PM)

Clover Flats

I have been over this old road dozen's of times. Never realized it was a log farm.

About 2 feet at the flag pole.

Still pretty thin in most areas, but we're getting there. Go slow and remember that the stumps are only a few inches under the surface in most places. 90% of the hills are not climable yet at anything faster than walking speed. The open meadows such as Clover Flatts and above are pretty good.
