stock hp on M sleds??

It states 477lbs . . . where are you getting the 453 figure from? the 08's weigh pretty much the same as the 07's wich weigh 500lbs +/-
your just pulling number outa your a$$!
And let's not forget the extra 20lbs of snow weight gain according to snowest magazine.

AAAHHHHH!!!!

I knew that would confuse the Doo guys! Just because you have a M8 does not make it ok to spread the Doo propaganda of "quote dry weight" and incorrect data you read on Dootalk and BRP add untruths. Next youll try convincing me that your xp weighs 435# and has 157hp because you went up against a poorly set up M8 once last spring and highmarked his a$$!

The 477# is created weight. Meaning the sled and the create weighed that much as it was set on the diesel trailer.

That is not out of my a$$ there SNOWCATTER.

Pull the sled out of the create and it is 463-465# that has been documented by certifide freight, taking in account the boss seat would put it at 453-455#. If anyone that spring checked can prove that is not true, Cat will rebate $500.

Cat has produced a 800cc sled this year that will go head to head with the mighty XP stock for stock! Not to mention the supierior hanldeing the M chassis has over the XP in the steep mountain terrain!

Doo can keep the 16" wide track, the 15" will out perform it in so many other ways.

I can't believe that AC took all that weight off of the sled and left 10 LBS. too much in the seat!? Either AC is retarded, Boss is lying, or your right. Which one is it?

LMAO!!!:D

I was thinking the exact same thing...... that is one heavy POS seat:eek:

Hey! I never said everything is perfect on the M sled. Its not a XP!

The stock AC seat has sucked since '05 (correction- since '01). Yes the stock seat weighs 14-15# or more, Boss snowcheck seat weighs under 5#.

to be honest, I have never had the seat off of an M8 to look at it........ what is in the seat?

well i would rather have a few extra #s than ride a sled that bends the a arms or bulkhead if you hit a pine cone:eek:to me it seems like a certain sled thats starts with x and ends with p has given up strength for wieght. JMO

Dyno Tech Research numbers,

Polaris 800 Dragon 08 calibration: HP 143.5 at 8000 RPM / TRQ 94.7 at 7900
Polaris 800 Dragon 09 calibration: HP 136.4 at 7800 RPM / TRQ 94.4 at 7400

Arctic Cat F8 2008 : HP 145.8 at 7700 RPM / TRQ 100.2 at 7400
Arctic Cat F1000 : HP 171.8 at 7200 RPM / TRQ 127.8 at 7000
According to dyno Tech, the air pod was removed on this test

XP 800R 2008 : HP 149.1 at 7850 RPM / TRQ 100.7 at 7650

These numbers are from Dyno Tech's wed page. And according to his info., are baseline numbers from completely stock sleds.

Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just responding to chaz's question. :)

I'm thinking the '09 800s are going to be really close to each other this year!

Your entitled to your opinion, but you should at least try and base it on some sort of facts, and not just from talking to Graveler. :D The XP held up to it's share of abuse this year, and if you don't believe me, just go watch any video. I think all the sleds this year will be close. Just buy what color you like, and ride the he!! out of it.

I think they must have forgot to do somthing with the seat or just ran out of cake.

I had a seat like that on my '01 mm700. Ate h2o and was a pig! Maybe it's the same seat.

Anyone have a Boss seat on there XP???

Alot of guys on here are comparing the cat with a can or track or pipe or boss seat to the XP........ Why??? Stock to stock right?

Sorry for all the questions.......;)

BTW - Cant find the results on the dynotech page, must subscribe. So send the link or it's bs to me.

Chaz

why did they only run the xp at 7850

everyone that dynos it runs them 8200-8300 rpm's and doo puts a sticker on the left side by the clutch that states the RPM range

everyone that has rode a 800R knows the does not make power under 8000 rpms---MAYBE thats why they dynoed it at 7850

So your saying that DynoTech shut down the dyno run right at 7850 to show low hp# for what reason? and didn't go past peak power like ussual...because why????

I guess I'm not understanding your post...T/A

T/A.

Thanks for clearing that up!

I thought the hp #'s were low but didn't even pay attention to the rpm. The poo is low on rpm too. When my sleds rus at 8100 or lower it looses alot of power.

Kinda like the old musclecar days, dyno #'s are set at lower rpm to get lower hp #'s.

Makes the cat look alot better when the other sled are runn ing below their 'peak' hp rpm.

FYI, the dynotech dyno results for the stock R motor tapper off after 7850 and with many pipes tested the peak h.p was up to 7900 rpm. Then tappered as well.

New out as of today dynotech solved the d-8 lack luster results.

It put down the smack the other day, lot's of tricks and explains to me the mixed results of some that didn't run that strong last season. Even as high as 163 with little done.

Don't try arguing with him T/A he's living in never, never land where M sleds are the lightest and most powerful, and everybody rides the same sled.

Hooooo jeez dude! Your waaaaay off base. The facts show that the XP is the lightset and most powerful! Just not by as much as you guys think... Your still on Gravy's "fantasy island" with a tall blue and white froofy cocktail sit next to you! WAKE UPPPP!!!!

lol

true. I notieced the xps take more grunt in the a arms and not the bulkhead. Which is mych better than the rev. The reason I say the arnt is strong is because I saw 3 get some pretty hefly front end damage by hitting little trees as to where I saw M series ram some larger trees and only so a cracked bumper, but it all depends on how you hut stuff haha

Wow, this sure turned into an internet slap fight. Dyno numbers? Big god damn deal. Different strokes for different folks, people are gonna be brand loyal to what they like, noones gonna change that. I prefer the M chassis, loved my m7 up untill its disappearance, and bet im gonna love my new m8. I know there will be days where it runs with the xp's, and i know there will be days when it does not. Now... what was this thread about again...?
