Stewart Bc trip

Lol.
How much do you figure a trip could cost a truck full of four guys?

About 200 each in diesel. Not too bad considering how far it is! There's 3 of us in to date. I have another buddy here that would love to go but the timing just isn't right financially for him. If we can't find another paying customer I'll just eat half the fuel and bring him along anyway. The forecast s looking good 6-8" in town wed. Night. Since hyder, Alaska is just 620' elevation. It should be putting up some good numbers at elevation! Hard to believe the amounts of moisture that place gets! The current forecast shows wet everyday till nov. 20th

My dream location is the coastal mountain range about 120-150 air miles north of Vancouver. This range consistently has the earliest deepest snow I have seen. I drool over the early season snow map from this area every year. There are already significant areas there at 6000' that have over 100" of snow on the ground right now! Trouble is there are hardly no roads to access it. Mt. Waddington shows over 400" on the ground as I write this, I'm thinking most of it doesn't melt during the summer?

Can the Canadians provide some local road info to access these areas? Maybe they are off limits (Canadian wilderness)?

yup that is meziadin, quite a ways from sea level

yah at 500ft its a quite a bit of elevation change:rolleyes: & its 25 miles in a strait line.it snowed all day in stewart too not much stuck on ground though but stewart is at 100ft above sea level,so i guess they got a bit above 500ft then:face-icon-small-coo

humblest apologies . my thoughts were that if that was sea level and snowing accumulating like that there would be some very rideable snow at elevation

Is there enough in Stewart up high to ride yet? Looks like the forecast the first of next week changed to some sun and clouds. Dammit!

it always colder once you turn up the valley past hyder because of the glaciers so if there is that much snow at the junction at 1000ft there would be way more up by the glaciers.that snow was from 12 hours at the junction its been snowing above 2500ft for close to a month now in stewart.
i should have worded it close to sea level didnt think it was a big deal.:noidea:
you can drive up to 3000ft by the salmon glacier.

WOW …..you sure? ….where are you getting this info?

If true, I would love to be there right now!

NOAA snow depth overlays. I would venture that 300 of the 400 inches are left over from last year. The surrounding area has over 100" of new snow. Like I said, this area gets more snow than anywhere I have seen.

Typically this area will see snow depths of 20' by Christmas.
