I'm hoping someone (Tim, Spicey or EW) can shed some light on something for me. I just looked at Brurandts Backcountry Adventures web site. If I am reading it correctly, it $325 for sled rental + $325 for a guide + $100 lodging + $200 for airport service. That's per person per day price of $750. From the guys that have been there, am I reading that right? If so, a three day ride (which is about the shortest time to stay on a trip like that) is $2000 per person. We've got pretty damn good riding here for that price.

hey whit, that why we drive there.

we take our own sleds, save on airfare and airport pickup. and last year the more people you had the cheaper the lodge was, we had 6 or 7 of us total(only 4 in our group) and it was like $67 per night for lodging which includes an amazing breakfast, and dinner, and some killer chocolate cake that sandy and bev makes.

Spendy, yes it is, but probly the most fun trip ive ever had.

Let me know if you have any mor ?'s on it.

So it is still $325 per day for guiding? The cheaper lodging wasn't really my concern, but that's still $1000 for guide services per person for a three day ride.

Speaking of lodging, Flatland Dave has a killer cabin right at the base of Roman Nose on the Ruby Creek access that sounds like it will be for rent per night this winter for those of you who don't want to drive back and forth.

yes, unless you go in the spring....then its 225 i believe. . .the main reason he charges that rate is because he will work with you and tell you tips on how to do what ever he is doing....it really will open your eyes to "tree riding"...but thats where you have to justify if its worth the $

Whit-I am trying to get my FLU season all done with now so I dont get sick in the winter

EricW-I am here to tell you in person that I have been waterboarded, and it is a mind fukkk and nothing more. It sucks, but was no big deal compared to other tactics that were used for hundreds of years to divulge information that would help a country and it's citizens out. And I never thought twice, EVER, about waterboarding a suspected terrorist if need be. Hell, there was a lot of other things done by the CIA that is not on the record that happen on location when time was of the essence in the Cold War, Afghanistan, and Iraq, to save allied lives. I thank GOD that it was performed in a time of need.

Think of it this way, you are in your warm comfortable bed on a cold winter night. Your wife is laying next to you, your kids laying in their beds all safe and warm. You sleep well knowing your biggest fears are paying the bills, your kids getting a good education, how much snow is falling so you can ride on fresh powder. Never once does the thought cross your mind, "I wonder if my family will be attacked tonight, my wife raped and killed in front of me, my kids tortured and their short lives ended brutally, and me, I will be tortured for days, brought to an inch within death over and over to get every piece of useless information out of my brain that could possibly help my enemy".
HELL NO. No one sleeps that way in the United States of America each night do they. Why, because we all sleep under a blanket of freedom that everyone takes for granted daily. The very same blanket that provides freedom of speech that cast down our right to waterboard suspected terrorists that threaten that warm comfortable winter night.
Dont anyone EVER challenge my position on this. I have been there, seen it, done it, and had it done to me. I will eat your lunch and chit it out facts that will change your mind in 15 minutes. Thank God every day you live where you do. I hope in some secret room somewhere, out of the publics eyes and ears, the same tactics that kept us safe all these years is still being practiced on suspected terrorists so my family can sleep like that all winter. I would tell you more of what I know, but then I would have to kill you. :D

Ya' just can't jump ship that easy! You sighned up with the Troy Crew for another season and if its tight trees you want, tight trees You'll GET! Look out for the Orange Punkin this year... ;)

I aint jumpin ship Johnny, just thought I would look into a ride where my hoodlum friends that can't go to Canada might want to go on. If we're heading to the trees I'll be on the 7 hundy and as Ragged, Griz and some other XP guys will tell ya, I'm not afraid to tear up the trees. Matter of fact, that was probably the best day of riding last year with a snowest crew. Fresh pow, trees and blue skies! Oh yeah, and stuck XP's everywhere :D

See, I'll scratch it given the chance
