hmmm...sounds like Sawmill might get a dusting. I'll throw up a pic later, when I remember how..

The national weather service in los angeles/oxnard has issued a

feet late this evening...with a rain and snow mix lowering to 3500
feet elevation. Snow levels will remain around 4000 feet
throughout sautrday...with minor accumulations possible in heavier
showers. With snow levels near 4000 feet...snow will impact the
interstate 5 corridor in the vcinity of gorman and the tejon pass
and the lockwood valley area.
Finally got the break-in ride. Rode about 40 miles at Mammoth today. Snow is getting real thin on the trails in, but you can still find some 8" around Crater. Rode down the H trail till it thinned out too much, and went back to Crater just to get some miles on the new sled. Perfect blue sky and 40.... too bad there wasn't 3' of fresh (I wouldn't of come home!!!)

disregard the date on the pics.... camera has a mind of it's own
Lucky you, I was so wanting to get a few miles on the new sled before we get a bunch of snow. Looks like we may get a little something next week, I am making plans to be in Mammoth next weekend for whatever they get, cant wait
Are you talking the 12-13th weekend? I'm free that weekend and was wanting to plan something too. Mammoth sounds good... maybe get some others on here to come out too. Looks like a couple more feet with these coming storms
Yes Mike I have the weekend of the 12th and 13th free and am set on finding some snow. If Mammoth doesn't get hit as Don noted I am all for finding something better where ever that may be. Would be great to get something lined up, I am up for about anything as long as there is snow!
Maybe ready to go then, if mammoth gets good snow
latest "guesstimations" from the weather "experts" say 6" Friday and maybe 2 ft through the weekend for Mammoth area.
Sounds great for the ride this weekend ... I'll be heading up on Friday....
just checking on who else is in??
Christina and I rode Sherman area yesterday. Staging area is the turnout below the main area. Great conditions, 1-3' in most places with a good powder top on a fair base. Trails are well covered and off trail is decent, still have to keep a close eye for stumps and bottomless manzanita thickets. Some areas you can sink to your waist, others are really wind blown and thin... lots of wind drifts at the vista area.
Hit most of the meadow areas and hills around the vista, a good little climb and explore to the peak south of Bonita, and stopped at the snow cabin at Bonita and even had some flurries sock-in during the afternoon. A little fire in the stove at the warming hut for lunch topped it off.
Great day..... hopefully get a couple feet more in up coming storms..
