I cant believe he hasn't replied yet..........
I was thinking about an 860 from ted but this could change things.......
Chaz
Just deal with Art at Engine-Tech. Thats all Ted does.
I bought my 1160 from Art 3 yrs ago. Blew it up last year and talked to Ted about doing the work. According to Ted, Art's motors are set up for low elevation. So, I sent Ted my motor in July (he received it 7/17/08) and I still don't have it. The original problem was he couldn't get pistons/sleeves from Art, who does his machine work. He was going to re-sleeve it and port it for high elevation. Ted said he was going to try to get it in the mail the Mon. before Christmas, but don't know if he did. Left him a message on his machine with a question I had before he shipped it (o-rings), but never got a call back and from what I saw yesterday he hasn't been on here since 12/22/08? I'm probably one of the most easy-going people around and I'm not getting too worked up about it yet, it would just be nice to know if it shipped or not. I understand that packages from Can. to US can get held up, which is why I haven't raised a stink yet, but it's been 3 weeks...can they get held up that long? Anyone else have an 1160 worked on this fall/winter? He said there were 9 of them he had to do. Anyway, Ted, if you read this I'm not pissed...yet! With the avy danger, I'm cool with missing a few trips. Do you have a tracking # for my motor?
Art built my motor and it rocks in the mountains. I wouldnt get Ted to put a sparkplug in my motor.

Well, I was coming off of a piped 800, so ya, I thought Art's motor rocked. When Ted said he could get it better I thought what the heck! I'm going to put the same clutching in it when (if) I ever get my motor back and see what it does compared to Arts. Like I said, I'm not too wound up about it...yet!
thats where your wrong! ted does all his own porting and heads!!!! i know, ive seen him spend hours porting 860's.

Ask Ted about the time his 1160 got spanked by a 900 Crankshop.
Art's motor's ROCK in the steep and deep. Ran one for 8 years anywhere from 4k to 10k. His Chiat flat runs, plus he is a no BS guy. Will tell you exactly what to expect and how they run. You will see or hear him blowing smoke like most the other BB makers do. He does not need to brag...his motors do all that for him. Any BB I do will be a Sever motor, as long as he makes it...He is doing the 862r so I am in luck!! Hopefullly next year!!
862R hmmm, whats this kit? Nice to see there are so many options for the 800R motor.
IMO if you want the best work you gotta do it yourself. NOBODY cares about your sled more than you do and will take as much time doing the small details that other people may skip just to "get it done". Plus you are paying the guys to skip out on those details
