guys, I have been following this thread and holding my breath......I am glad it worked out, and it looks great. sounds like a couple hours a week spent calling back customers would keep him right at the top.

Hey man I'm the guy who started this? I still need my sled back and no I won't forget this. Yes CRF's sled looks good but this dosen't mean it washes all this crap away. Ted has lost my trust and my future business with the complete lack of communication and the bashing he sent my way in an e-mail. If your are very busy give me a call one day to let me know all is well. Not too much to ask. This thread was never to be a bash fest. I hope this thread shows fellow sledders what can happen when you leave your labour of love with someone you don't know. Do the research on a shop and talk to past customers. If at all possible DO IT YOUR SELF! I will let you all know when my sled is home and running. Thanks for all the support fellow sledders!

im sure estatic cadbury stole the hot chocolate idea from carnation...way nicer product to drink..im so glad actizyme stole septobacs idea for septics...i can crap longer with less worry....im so glad ngk stole champion idea..much nicer plug...im so glad safeway stole superstores idea for a food store...much nicer store...on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on...WHO REALLY CARES..BOTH ARE BUSY...WE THE CONSUMER BENEFITS..!!!!!!
Maybe you can explain to me how these guys benifit. Is it because they saved money on fuel by missing out on countless sled trips?
read my post..!!!!...it it no way was to reflect on anybodys sled and their waiting..????..the post SPECIFICALLY just dealt with copied ideas in response to the post about copied idea;s..???...you can explain the savings if ya want...no way am i going there...i am glad that crf freds sled just rocks and that the others are close to being done(hopefully) and i hope they all run as good as crfs
I think you are comparing apples and oranges here. Major corporations compared to small businesses. In the world of snowmobiling a lot of stuff that we buy comes from guys just like us who produce something in their garage. And for someone to reproduce someone's idea exactly and make money off of it seems wrong to me. Admittedly I don't know exactly where I draw the line on this.

nobody needs a monopolizing aftermarket producer. then thing would get lazilly completed with less detail. it is just less strain on one company, in that im sure you would like to build 20 sleds over the course of the winter and still enjoy the season. i know it takes me several months just to build one, but im no pro.

If they didn't want it copied exactly there should be a patent. If they cant afford it, of course someones gunna copy it.

Easy for you to sit there and say "can't afford a patent, dont B1tch when it gets copied" when it isnt something being copied and STOLEN from YOU. Think about it, someone like Chad at CR who lives and breathes sleds, comes up with ideas that the majority of the sledding world loves and wishes they could have on their sleds, and puts in all the R&D time to develop it and make it his own, just to have some other, lesser minded individual figure he can make a quick buck off an idea he had nothing to do with by copying it. Its nothing to do with patents, its the PRINCIPLE of the thing. Its going to happen, YES things will get copied, but it still makes me want to buy the original just to spite the copycat.
I have nothing against anyone IN this thread, i just get a bit upset when people defend the outright STEALING of someone's ideas on a small business level, where its people like Chad's creative ideas and all the thought and time to develop them and test them are what set those businesses head and shoulders above the rest.
And believe me, after reading this mess, about the lack of communication with customers, it just makes CR and RKT and other shops look THAT much better. I can honestly say, good work or not, it would be a frosty friday in Hell before i gave my money or recomendation to a place with such poor customer service and communication.
