Some assembly required......

So, its my son Jack's 2nd birthday on Sunday, June 1st. We decided to get him one of those big wooden swing sets. So, after looking on the internet we decided a trip to Menards is in order. We took Jack with to see what he would like to play with the most. I find the swing sets, they are in the gardening section for some unknowen reason. 2 other guys were allready looking at the swings trying to decide what they get when they buy the swing set. After about 20 min we finally waved down a worker to help tell us what we get with each kit. The guy explains to us that we pick our kit, then we have to buy our attaching parts(slide, etc..). After argueing with the worker about what he was telling us, he finally called another guy that knew what he was talking about. So we buy a kit, & off to the yard we go to pick everything up. GOSH I HATE the pick up yard at Menards. Why they dont make it a one way with a gate at both ends, I'll never know. I'm not sure what took longer, the yard picking everything up, or deciding what I needed to buy with the swing set.

Tonight I started with the assembly process of the swing set. Jack loves to be outside. Jack & I gathered all the tools that we would need & started sorting the boards. I would pile them up in there leanths. Jack didnt think they looked like they were in the right pile so he would change where I put the board in which pile. Then he found the lag bolts & all the other attaching peices. Tonight while I type this, I'm still not sure where all the peices are in the lawn. So, in like 3 hours tonight, all we got done was sorting boards, drilling some holes, & looking for screws, lag bolts, & chain hooks.

Tomorrow we might even screw some pieces together. I'll see what Jack feels like.

To be continued.....

Good luck with that jigsaw puzzle. I thought about one for my kids, but changed my mind after seeing the cost, assembly time, and the future of the contraption after the kids grow up.

Get some pics up for us to follow your progress. Might be interesting to see how many :beer; cans we see in the background:D

After you get it all figured out, riley wants one also, so when we get it you & jack can come down and "help" assemble it. :D:beer;

Be smarter then what you are working with Matt.

Didn't it come with instructions or anything? lol

I heard those things are a pain to put together.

Andy, just be sure to get Riley his own tape measure now. Because thats the 1st thing Jack had to have so he could sort boards when I had them in the wrong pile.

Do you think its to late to call Stanley tools & Black-n-decker for sponsership??

My wife bought one of those wooden swing sets last fall. It's still in my garage...in the box. :eek:

RYDPWDR bought one for his kids, said it took all day to put up.:mad:

Kids are getting older thou, maybe this weekend. :face-icon-small-dis

send the wife and kids away for the weekend---trust me.
call up some of your "carpenter" friends, buy the food and beer, and it'll practically build itself.;):beer;

I can just see a kid resorting things for ya.

I'm still missing tools from my daughter helping me hang shelves this winter.

Good luck and have fun with it.

Food as well right?

I honestly have never been in one.

No your thinking of Walmart. Get fresh draws, hot dogs and the stuff for an oil change all at once! And watch some good white trash for free fun.

Tonights project time kinda sucked. Jack& I got a few screws put in tomight. We got the frame up the tower up, before I broke off the driver tool that came with the kit. So tomorrow I'll have to hit the hardwear store for supplies. 4.5 steps done......21 to go. UGGGGGG

LOL!! Put one of those together a few yrs back for the girls. Some assy alright.
I should send my 2 yr old, Kynan, out to help you Jack. He's great at bringing EVERY tool out of my tool box out to me just in case I need it:) "Here Dad"
Now, if I could just get him to do that with the beer in the fridge:D

BTW, my pops is back out scouting your neck of the woods again this week. Look for a white New Yorker.
