Snowy Mountain Lodge snowies is the worst!

Ok explain this, gas in Centennial is over a dollar cheaper for premium than at the lodge. Does the lodge need to upcharge everything to make money or could they stay competetive and get more business?

I stop in the lodge atleast once a week, do I get any discount for bringing clients up there? No! Do they make more money because I suggest that we stop in the lodge have lunch, or dinner, get gas, etc. For Sure! Do other lodges around the mountain give my clients discounts? Yep! So what is going on here? Replies to my e-mails to the Snowy Mountain Lodge would be cool. I know for a fact these stories of people pi$$ed off are not Lies, it is how they feel!

What I am trying to get at is, if people write about your business and complain on a forum and you don't respond to it and look at your business and try to make changes to make people happy, you will not be in business long unless you have a huge cash surplus and don't care. If I had clients telling me they were not happy with something, I would look at how I was running things and make positive changes. I understand you can't make everybody happy all the time, but you should make the majority of your customers leave with a positive experience! Just my 2cents, take it or leave it.

One thing to keep in mind, human nature...it's very rare for someone to go the extra mile to throw someone a bone (a compliment), even when it's very much deserved. But it's a trigger finger when things go bad.

I'm flying out to the snowy's in 24 hours and all I really want is a warm place to sleep at night and a decent sled to ride during the day. Anything else is icing on the cake so I'm easy to please. I've been up on a mountain for an entended amount of time and know what to expect. No illusions here I'll be receiing a massage every night after riding. :) In fact that is the whole reason I'm staying at MMC, to get away from creature comforts. But if SML has so many people complaining about them, there has to be something to it! I know I'll likely stop in a time or two while I'm there for 11 days and I definately will mention this thread to them at some point. Count on that.

The red carpet? Seriously?

Okay, I dont know a lot of sledders who go to a lodge expecting someone to roll out the red carpet for them. They dont have to charge a $1.00 a gallon more for gas, they dont have to charge so much for food that sucks, they dont have to treat their patrons, the ones who are paying their bills, with disrespect. They dont have to do anything of the sort. Its a heck of a lot easier to be nice than a jerk. You can tell which business's are run because people really enjoy what they are doing and which ones are run because they want your money and for you to go away. I do run a business and my sole purpose is to make my customers happy. There will always be people that you cant make happy no matter what you do. This isnt the case here. These people were arrogant and extremely rude, not to mention wrong. When you choose to run a business that deals with the general public you should at least like dealing with the general public. a little. If this were my business that was being talked about on this forum there would be changes made asap. Without your customers you dont have a business. He responds by saying it is all a lie. Wow.The next time I want to get bent over I will call my husband... Not the Snowy Mountain Lodge!

I have read through this and have come to the conclusion that the person who would not help me is not Cody. It was a young man all greasy and not at all a business person at all. He was the Lodge "mechanic".Just wanted to clear that up I do not make a habit of complaining and am pretty easy to get along with, I take several trips and bring several people with me each time. I do drive more than 8 hours (whatever that has to do with it) but do not expect people to go out of their way, just be civil and SML is not. We do carry gas cans, bring our own food and all that but once in a while you feel you should support the locals and try to let them know they are appreciated. Returning the favor is all I ask. Old Corral..Albany...Frontier Cycles.. TNT motorsports...Maverick motorsports and even Applebees & Walmart in Laramie all seem to be able to do it, so what is the problem with SML? I have even made a unfortunate trip to the laramie hospital and it was pleasant ( as it could be)

Long time reader, first time poster! Buddy wrecked sled last week and had a leg injury. We took him to SML and the gals working there were very helpful. One even offered to take buddy to Larimee while we rode back to albany to get vehicle!! Soo I want to thank them for there help and concern.
I do agree that their gas is too high and I think their food is fine . Just wanted to let it be known that some at SML do care and will help!!!

Thanks

That place flat out sucks! They overcharge everything seem to never have change the food has been terrible everytime I ate there and the waitress always make you feel like it's a burden for them to serve you! $4 for gas and $10 for less than McDonalds quality burgers and your rude to me! The Old Corral has got my buisness from now on I hope SML folds and IQRMK900 buys it. Prime location and piss poor managment what a shame!

Funny you should mention IQRMK900 buying it, I was just telling him the same thing Sunday....

Sorry to hear about what they did to you, I would do like Ollie said. Sucks that businesses run like that. They should have told you before you gave them the card number thier policies at least! If you want a cheap room, stay in Centennial at the Friendly store.

The Price is Right! :D:beer;:beer;:beer;

We rented from snowy mountain for 3 days last time we were up there, as my brother blew his sled up on the 2nd day of a 5 day ride. Cody gave us a heck of a good deal on the rentals.
The lodge was a different story, as mentioned, the food was decent, but expensive, and the gas was way overpriced. We had the pleasure of staying in a "Trapper's Cabin" one night, lol what a joke, I will stay at the old corral from now on as linda is really nice, her husband is a heck of a cook, and the are the only hotel I know of to give a "snowest discount". One of their sons even volunteered to drive into laramie to get parts for us, but there was no fixing his sled, ate the center piston and put a whole in the crankcase

I have only had VERY positive experiences at SML. Stayed there several times last year and found the cabins adequate and the food awesome (great chili). The first time we walked through the door this year Connie welcomed us back like long lost friends.

One time we got caught there in a snow storm and they helped us to check on road closures, airport delays (we were heading out of town the next day), Etc.

I will continue to support SML whenever I am up there, and encourage others to do the same.

Was at the Snowy Mtn. Lodge on Saturday, they must have read this thread, was a very impressive stop compared to last time, food and service was great, keep up the good work

Snowy Mountain Lodge

Saw this post and just couldnt pass up on the opportunity to add my 2 cents. Having lived in laramie for a couple years, and since moving back to Iowa I still make it a point to get back out there specifically at least once a year, if im lucky twice... I have stayed at albany, and a couple different places on teh back side of the mountain, and I would hands down prefer to pay 4$ a gallon for fuel and stay with them at the SML. Was up there in february and will be going up again the end of next week, they were nothing but helpful, treated us as any of my friends would. Connie and dave come off as being kind of blunt... But they are real. I hate going to other places and having other people paint on their customer faces just to make everyone comfortable. 4$ a gallon for gas, but you have a 15 minute ride to some of the best mountain riding in wyoming. I dont drive 12 hours to ride long windy trails, which at most of the other lodge's that is what you have to do to get to any kind of a climb. You burn twice as much fuel, and get half as much actual mountain riding in.
There may be some things that need adjustments but I know dave hasnt owned the lodge for more than a few years and he's constantly trying to make changes to maximize profitability (what business owner wouldnt...) while also keeping the customers in mind. Im sure there are many complaints on here that are very valid. But being expensive??? Strap a snowboard on and hit the slopes in aspen, breck, winter park, copper.... You pay big $$$ for food and hospitality at any of these places, SML prices look good compared to these. Bottom line... Winter sports are expensive... SML is about the experience not about getting a 5 star stay in a fancy resort. So I say keep up the good work Connie, Dave, and all the crew at SML... You'll get it figured out, and i'll continue to be a loyal customer

P.S. Big thanks to cody for pulling our truck out when we got stuck!!!

All i can say about them is what exactly was that brown stuff on the bottom of the glass, I'll take my pepsi in a can from now on.

We spent last weekend at SML. Our daughter was injured during our stay and the staff at SML was the best! They helped clean up her wound and patch it up so we could get to the ER in Laramie. Upon our return they treated her like a queen and helped her get past the injury. Dave helped put a story together for her to tell her classmates and Connie and Jill kept her cheared up. As far as gas prices at the lodge they may be higher but isn't that expected for convenience -no different than buying a soda at the convienence store where we pay at least double verses going to a grocery store. You are paying for convenience and if people are willing to pay for it then you can't blame anyone for making money. The food at the lodge over the weekend was excellent and there prices are no more than any other establishment on the mountain.
Just my 2 cents.

Snowy Mt lodge has sold a couple of tmes over the last or 6 years.
They used to have better service.
I agree with Mountian Meadow Cabins but you might ahve to make reservations quite a while in advance. There are also a couple of places in centennial or Winter creek Condos just above Centennial.
For lunch (about 10 to 3pm) the ski area has leased the cafe out (for this year) to the same folks who run the Trading Post in Centennial. They ahve been serving much better food than the ski area used to serve.
You can access the area via Barber lake road and park your sled near the ski patrol building (please dont block access to the back door where injured skiers are brought to the first aid room) and then walk to the lodge.

I usually won't comment on other businesses but, if there is one place that snowmobiliers are not welcome it's the Trading Post. That group of drug dealing hippies are always protesting against us and have been trying to shut down our riding areas! If you give them a dime just know that your money is going to help close areas to snowmobiles. Say what you want about Snowy Mountain but they are pro-snowmobile.
