Snowy Mountain Lodge snowies is the worst!

oh how I have longed to bad mouth this place...We tried to eat there last year, got green hot dogs for 4 dollars and very poor service. Went there to get gas this year and 4 buck a gallon is no joke not to mention the prices on the Klim gear they are trying to sell. Broke down there 2 years ago and the guy there wanted $200 to give me and my sled a lift back to Albany, his reason was 2 hours time and gas money. come on what a jerk. Also the time we ate there when we went to pay our bill they claimed to have no change...so they of course rounded up on everyones bill. How convienent is that for them?? I have told and will tell everyone I know and talk to to stay as far away from that place as possible. IT SUCKS!!!! I hope when they are done running it in the ground I can buy it and turn it into the gold mine that it is.....Man I hope the guy there reads these statements and wakes up or gets out of town.

Just have to put my two cents worth. This is usually the place I stay because I can ride from the door thru april. One time Dave pulled my dodge up the drive with his skid steer when my vaccuum hubs would not engage, never asked a thing for it (frequent renter).
-They have always been laxed on the checkout time if we ride late on sunday.
-The female cook that always wears a red bandana cooks a mean meal.
-Usually has open trapper cabins available (except this weekend)

Trapper #8 has a bowed door and was drafty, but had the cleanes electric commode.

Stayed at the old corral this weekend and the rooms were phenemonal, drive up the mountain was not as inconvienet as i thought.

In end I hope this place does not suffer because from many of these posts because it is more expensive to operate at such a location. But this is no excuse for the way some of the posters have been treated.

Sorry to hear about what they did to you, I would do like Ollie said. Sucks that businesses run like that. They should have told you before you gave them the card number thier policies at least! If you want a cheap room, stay in Centennial at the Friendly store.

snowy mountain lodge is the most expensive place on the mountain BAR NONE hamburger and fries 10 bucks gas always more than anyone elses........u need resuce they charge up the a$$$$$$$$$........ we over at albany lodge have been know to go out after dark and pull sleds out of creeks for the love of the sport..........
i brought a friend up this year he rented a yamaha from these jokers .....there helmets are so bad , u know the double lens that dont work from back in the 90 s thats what they have , and it was snowing so he was only going 10 miles an hour most the time. he had the lens flap up and when we came back i told them about this and they charged ;him 150.00$ for handle bars that they said were bent..........i am sure they have charged; someone else for this b 4 n b 4 n b 4 ..........im telling u someone needs to get out the rope......and we go up there and show those honyokers how the west was won .. and how its going to be won again........

Our group stayed there several years ago, It was OK, but it was my first time out West Snowmobiling, this year we are staying on the other side of the Mountian, at Med Bow Lodge.

Do they not have the Internet at the lodge? Doesn't anyone there think to log onto this site to see this feedback being posted about their establishment?

I should drop in and let them know when I'm there in a couple days. :D

Cody at the Yamaha rentals is a super guy, he has helped a lot of people out including myself. He doesn't deserve any bashing on here, great place to rent from, right on the mountain. Cody has nothing to do with the gas sales or the Snowy Mtn. Lodge.

It is too bad. Dave is a great guy and was very accomadating when he first opened a few years ago, but I agree with all of you it is not the same. Hopefully he makes some changes before it is to late cause that could be an awesome place.

if he is the young guy with the 2 for 1 duct tape special polaris sleds then that is who I am talking about. He was so happy to tell me about the great deal he got on those old school worn out sleds but not even a little interested in helping a broke down guy out. Sorry Loren if this is the same guy, maybe he has changed...

A good review

Since all the bashing is going on, I thought I would give my report. I have had nothing but great experiences at the Snowy Mountain lodge. Dave and Connie always treat us right. Just got back from their today and have stayed there 2 other times since January 1. Rooms may be a little high but you are paying for convience. Drive in and out is awesome. Having a good meal close by is convenient too.

We understand their cancellation policies, gas prices (bring our own), and what we can expect with their facilities. As with any business, improvements can be made so make some suggestions, see if they listen and try them in the future. My suggestion: keep the lodge open a little later at night so people can use the lodge that ride until dark.

BTW: they have new sleds this year.

Nick

I think he's only had yamis the last few years, Cody is not part of Snowy Mtn. Lodge.
Mike, leaving wed. nite, have room for one more????

going to the big horns the 17rh...we too have room for 1 or 2 more....have a good trip.
where you staying this time?

That place flat out sucks! They overcharge everything seem to never have change the food has been terrible everytime I ate there and the waitress always make you feel like it's a burden for them to serve you! $4 for gas and $10 for less than McDonalds quality burgers and your rude to me! The Old Corral has got my buisness from now on I hope SML folds and IQRMK900 buys it. Prime location and piss poor managment what a shame!

Loren and Chris are correct, Kody and Snowy Range Tours are separate from the lodge. They rent Yamahas, always have, and try to be as accommadating as possible. I know Dave and Connie--always treated me well. Next time I'm up, I'll point out this thread.

Stayed at Mountain Meadow Cabins last weekend. Chris is great there. We knew Snowy Mt Lodge sucked so we even went to the effort of loading up our sleds and trailering them back down to Centennial to fill up with gas instead of giving Snowy Mt Lodge our business.

Yeah, he is a great guy, don't think he deserves a bashing or any of the guys at Snowy Mountain Tours. They are all super guys and great riders! Kody has gone above and beyond to help rescue people and he knows the mountain very well! I just think the Lodge could do a little more to support local riders and guests! The two places are individually owned and operated they just promote each other!

Very well put, Joe.

Kody is great, helped me out big time back in Jan!! Sent a note the other day to SML letting them know that they are getting massacred on Snowest as I've personally never experienced what's been said. That said, I've never stayed there, only food and gas on occasion.

Dave responded suggesting that they are all lies which was quite dissappointing to say the least. Sent a note back suggesting there is no upside for Snowesters to lie on this forum and that he should strongly consider taking the complaints to heart.

I was encouraged to see the GM of TML on this forum promising to fix the issues brought up, let's hope Dave will take this same initative.

Time will tell I guess..

Honestly, we have stayed there a few times and love it, never had any sort of problem. We usually stay there once a year for something different, but we get one of the big cabins when we do. The reason we keep going back is we know what to expect. We know not to eat in the restaurant. It is expensive and not open late enough, so we bring our own food and cook it, or we run down to Cent for supper and drinks. Yes their gas is expensive, but when you are the only one that sells it up there, charge what you want. Some people will pay because they have to have it, basic economics. We bring our own gas. They do make gas cans, and you can fill them in Laramie. Ya, their prices on the cabins are high. No doubt. But holy cow, you aren't paying for the great service and comfort of a 5 star resort. You are paying to ride to and from your door. There is nothing better. Nothing like riding from 6am to 5pm, eating a bite, and going back out until midnight. But, we usually have 6-8 people, and it splits up nice. And actually, the only time we go in the lodge or have any contact with them is when we pay the bill.

I realize when people drive 8 + hours, they expect to have the red carpet rolled out for them and butts kissed, but this isn't Jackson, Steamboat, or Aspen, just a small lodge trying to provide what they can. Is it run to its fullest potential? LOL, not even close. I think you could really turn that thing into a goldmine. Sometimes you just have relax and realize the real reason you are there. If its not to sled every hour you can, ya, then, this place is not for you. Just my honest opinion.
