I completely understand minimizing our impact on the environment.
I can completely sympathize with anyone that respects the environment and wants to keep it natural. However, it should be for the right reasons. That being because you love the outdoors.....not because it's trendy to act environmentally conscious, or simply because you're butthurt that you walked for two hours on skis, only to find someone blast past you on a snowmobile.
I think it's clear that the guy whining in this video is upset because of the aesthetics of the snow have been disturbed. As far as the bushes? Maybe he has a point, but those things are like weeds and are very resilient.
I think it's funny when you look through the rest of his videos, and he's hiking along a trail somewhere. Sorry buddy, but snowmobiles don't make trails like that, hikers like yourself do.
Your other point is the disturbing of wildlife. There have been many studies done that have proven that snowmobiles are far less of a stress to wildlife compared to hikers and skiers.
Animals are alerted to the snowmobile minutes before it even becomes an issue. Even then, they know snowmobiles aren't predators.
On the other hand, hikers and skiers give no indication of their proximity and are silent like a predator.
A good comparison would be a person sneaking up to you to scare you or harm you with a ghetto blaster blaring on their shoulder, or someone being completely silent until they're right next to you. Which one will startle you more? Hopefully you get my point.
Your other video is titled:
Snowmobiles Ruin Wilderness Quiet in Colorado
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLa4IbW-cEQ&feature=channel_page
This is the type of thing that really annoys me.
First of all, you're not in the "wilderness". I know, I live about 15 minutes away from where this video was shot. You're in the Webster Pass area, just outside of Montezuma. It's open to snowmobiling, all the way from Montezuma, over Webster to the Tiger Run area on the Breckenridge side.
So here is why you are upset-
a) you drove up from your home in Golden, Colorado to "get away from it all"
(I learned this by reading your website
www.RogerWendell.com )
b) you're basically a tourist, and have no idea of what areas are open to what access in this county
c)being the gaper that you are, you skinned up a road that in your mind was
"wilderness, and really remote"
d)apparently the road, the structures, and the already present sled tracks were of no value to you in evaluating your location
e) as you and your Joey pals are gaping around and feeling really hardcore like you guys had really trekked into some remote ****.....a couple of sleds cruise by taking the wind out of your sails......all of a sudden, you didn't feel so tough and hardcore...no, that was replaced by feelings of stupidity and foolishness.
f)in order to protect your fragile ego....or at least trying to justify yourself and not look like the moron "guide" in front of your Joey pals....you decided to instantly project your feelings of inadequacy onto the snowmobilers.
Take responsibility for your own stupidity and quit blaming others.
People like you are the worst.
Next time, go ski touring where snowmobiles aren't allowed.
At least then, you won't look like such an ignorant douchebag.
