Ollie

Good pic's, I have never ridden the snowys before but am heeding there tomorrow, is Greenrock near the snowy mountain lodge in Centennial or could you suggest a good spot to stop and unload a 40 ft trailer? preferably with less trail to have to ride??? Any help from anyone would be great thanks

I have zero exp. with a 40' trailer at greenrock, so can't answer that question. I have seen a few 40' trailers up there. So my guess would be yea, it would fit.

Greenrock is right at the snowy mountain lodge. You can leave from greenrock and never even hit the trails if you want.

with that trailer I have one bit of advice for ya.

GET THERE EARLY If you wait till after 8am it starts filling up FAST. The earlier you get up there the easier it will be for ya.

We've got ~ 3" of fresh on the ground here in Laramie, and its just raging up on the hill.

Might postpone our plans for Tog and just ride from Albany again early in the A.M. on Saturday. Nothing better then being first tracks.

where is the better riding at Centennial or Albany?

Depends on your riding style.
If you like to climb, centennial is the place to go.
From centennial you can access the west side and the large fields over there. The snow is typically better on the north and west side of the mountain. because of the ease with which to get to riding areas around greenrock a lot of people prefer to ride from there. You can take short cuts a lot easier. The trees are spaced a LOT farther apart.

Albany has about the same snow as the greenrock area but you better like tree running. There is no climbing to speak of around albany. If you like to tree run and meadow hop it is the place to go. I don't have hand guards on my sled to protect from wind, it's branches I worry about.

Albany would be easier to get into and out of with that size of rig. To get to greenrock you go from Centennail up the hill about 5 miles (and gain about 1500ft or so in elevation so ya it goes uphill) to the parking area referred to as Greenrock. There is a turnaround that we turn our 28' open trailer (bumper hitch) and truck around in so I think you could get it turned around up there somewhere. Albany is at like 8400ft and Greenrock is at like 9800-9900 I think (someone correct me if I am wrong) so you get the idea.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the input, myself and three others will be in a gray crewcab F and white gooseneck this weekend if any of you are out stop and say hey, thanks again

Man... it gets old doing tree running with a bone stock Apex. My riding partner told me yesterday on our way off the mountain he's going to seriously look at getting a Dragon for next year because the apex is just killing him. Waaaaaay too heavy for the kind of riding we've been doing the last 2 rides.

I will be there two days after christmas and i cant wait! Ive been looking forward to it since winter ended last year. Thanks for the updates and keep postin pics...they are awesome! Gotta love that deep powder!

Ollie, were do you like to boondock the most?? on albany side or the back side (the side with The Place Bar)?? It seems to have more snow on the back side.

OP...didn't know you paid me for a share in the trailer, not to mention the truck to pull it with:rolleyes:...I will have to call my accountant and see when the check hit the bank!!

track~

We are stayin at a cabin north of centinnial. Friend of the family owns it. Where were you guys planning on riding up there? We have a couple rookies so we probably wont make it up north until they get used to riding a little bit...i cant wait to see them get stuck for the first time and feel like an idiot. Although if you arent getting stuck you arent having fun!!:face-icon-small-hap
