How much snow is in the Uinta's? I know our snow pack this year sucks, but how far are you guys going in from bear river station to avoid all the mines? We're looking to ride this weekend, and it will be our first ride of the year... And I hope that nothing get's broke, so I'd like to know where's safe to go if anybody could help?
Thanks.

The road is still safe. :face-icon-small-dis

Still sagebrush showing at the green shack, Double Hill has minimal snow showing rocks and bushes, all south facing slopes are down to dirt or maybe a couple inches. There are a few North facing slopes that look like they'd be fun but the snow is cracking all over. Gold hill area has a few pockets in the trees but there are many things to hit... We heard Moffit Basin has a few places to play, but again there are still many things to hit. Elizabeth Ridge is not deep, snow blown in the trees, but still landmines in there...

Not looking good. :face-icon-small-fro

I heard a couple weeks ago that Monte had actually a fair amount of snow... Do you or anybody else know if there's some? of course I'd be coming from the back side...

Problem is I've never ridden up there and we're kinda on a budget as far as gas money goes :/

We understand. In the same situation and to be honest I just found this as of December 31. Better than the Uintas, but not much.

Triple peak (wyoming range) 40"
Blind Bull (wyoming Range) 38"
Willow Creek (salt river range) 40"
South End (Afton, wyoming range) 38"
Togwotee 44"
Targhee Ski Resort 4 day storm total 29"
Targhee Snotel site 54"
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort last 24 hours 10"

So maybe it would be best to not spend the money to go buy tags fill everything up and go?

Timberlakes

Rode 6 days out of Timberlakes, east of Heber. Like stated above - south facing is dirt. Some windblown up on ridges. We did find some good riding down in the draws and boondocking in the trees. Meadows very tempting, some rocks to be found, other places good. Many untracked little forest roads. Did not bend anything, although we did have engine problems with a Pro (crank problem) and a Rev (fuel related burndown).

We came out from southern MN as we were committed to a rental house and we met our son from California for Christmas. All in all had a good time - typical October riding:face-icon-small-ton

Loved the area/terrain tho, will definitely be back.

I just know I'm not riding again until some places start getting some snow. I've already made two long haul trips so far this year to ride 36" or less :(

Hell we can't even unload here right now without driving about 3 miles up the road and then it's got about 2" of hardpack is all :(

A friend of ours said there was some snow at Hams Fork outside of Kemmerer... we might head there this weekend but who knows however on the bright side I might pick myself up another ride tomorrow! :D
