SNOW DECK Built by "Snow Farms" LLC

No need for reverse just push them off. Rick doesn't have reverse on his M. i will be getting one and i dont have reverse either

Really I thought it would be hard. What about being top heavy on the truck do you notice it? I have always wondered about the safety of having your weight moved that high on your truck. Anyone?

I can only speak for a long bed 1 ton truck. I don't even notice the sleds weight is there. Not like when i put a old 580 in my s 10 pickup. My 1 ton barely even moves when loaded with 2 sleds on the deck.

I built a sliding drawer in the base frame of mine also. Makes it alot easier to use the majority of my bed while the rack is in. I just pull a pin and I can slide my 5' tray out so that I can reach stuff that would be at the front of the bed and a pain in the arse to crawl up under and grab.

I really like that idea. Did you use some sort of drawer glides or does it just slide on a frame ?

They will be fully finished, And can match truck color if you want (for a little extra)
I would guess around 350 LBS
Right now it is only steel, Its a lot cheaper to build with then aluminum. Plus I haven't shelled out the cash for a TIG welder yet.

Base price is $1200.

The one in the picture is for a short bed truck.
Measures 8 foot long by 7' 10 wide deck
18 inch dove tail.
8 foot 6 inch ramp (might be changing that to 9 feet).
The long bed model is just a foot longer total.
It is built on a box that slides just inside the wheel wells. So technically 1 guy could load/unload it. Just set the front on the tail gate and either drag it in or lift it from the back and slide it in.

Not sure what welder you are using but you dont need a tig to weld aluminum. MOST if not all trailer companies use a mig setup for aluminum to weld trailers. If they didn't aluminum trailers would cost about twice of what they do now!

If you do decide to do aluminum make sure you have lots of ventilation and maybe even a respirator. I welded some thing up one to practice on a friends and those fumes will work you over. I was even in a 40' x40' shop with the 20' door open.

Either way looks good.

A few questions:
Why dont you close the ends of the tubing. Water will get in and rust the from the inside.(Personally I think it looks a lot better to, I always try to cover the ends of tubing by either a miter and weld or a welded plug, they also make really cheap plastic plugs you can put in the end and make them look much more finished and keeps you from cutting yourself)

Secondly what do these thing normally cost, dont know much about them but your price seem really low for the quality.

Thanks, And I did close all the tubing openings with the plastic push in type plugs. But I ran out and these guys were in a hurry to get out of town. Thanks for the input, I really appreciate any criticism, helps me to build a better product.
I have not done a ton of pricing but from what I have seen at $1200 I am at about half the price of a comparable deck. And of course aluminum decks go up from there.
