Snow bungee

The #1001 Rattler ($70) has a handle and the #1002 Cobra ($80) has hooks. The combo is $140. Couldn't you just buy the Cobra and the replacement handle #1099 ($8) and have the same basic set-up? Just looking to equip my sled the most cost effective way possible.

Nice to have both when you are in a really sticky situation.:D

Love it. I only have the sled to sled one. Works great to yank them out and I think it also works great when you only have 2 people and cannot yank it out, but can at least get it really tight and set the brake on the unstuck sled and then go pull on the ski. Almost like having a third person along.

^^ thats how we do it a LOT, things are to tight to really yank, so tension with the sled to sled then set brake, then throw the handled guy on the other ski... almost ALWAYS gets the sled out... and our group as 4 hand bunjee's and a sled to sled... the shovels dont come out like they used to.

Here is what I have done to get unstuck...

I carry one of the snowbungie rope ratchets in my kit along with the full size sled bungie and a couple of webbing slings with some extra carabiners. Basically I put the sling around a tree, attach the rope winch, run it to the sled bungie (hooked to the sled) and put as much tension on it as I can. I should note that prior to this, I have dug the sled out a bit, stomped out the approach some and shifted the track over to packed down snow (normal prep). Once this is set up, I start the sled and pop the throttle while standing to one side and it pops right out and can be ridden away.

Disclaimer, of course this doesn't work if you have nothing to anchor to...

I will now be carrying a ratchet strap of some sort with me now. I have a homemade snowbungie and this idea would be awesome for when I get to those spots that people just can't get to and stop to help me out.

I never ride without one! I love the look on the face of a snobunje virgin the first time they use one. "Whoa-a-a......dude, THAT was easy!"

Thing I would like to know is..... why is it that the skeptics that laugh and scoff at the idea of using a snobunje are always the first one on the hill to borrow it when they get stuck??

They are awesome we were out riding and a friend dropped through the ice in a small creek only thing sticking out of the ice was the rear bumper and the banks were steep we tried with three guys a rope with no luck, we also tried hooking up to another sled but the angle was to steep and just broke the rope. A group of older wiser guys pulled up and took out 2 snow bungee's first time I had seen them we hooked them up and pulled like hell and out the sled came. I went and bought one the next day.

Works awesome for towing dead sleds out of the mountains too irregardless that they don't recommend them for it! I towed two XP's out last year with blown motors and even the guys getting towed were amazed because the snowbunje takes out the jerking that causes the sleds to slow down and get stuck. Makes the ride on the dead sled smoother, and when you hit it hard for a big hill it stretches when you get a run at the hill making the hills that much easier to climb. Night and day difference towing and way easier on the towing sleds tunnel with that cushion in between the two of you! About the only thing I would possibly do different is maybe use the two ski sled towing straps to give you a bit more distance to not spray the dead sled rider so bad, but that's his problem! :D

Snobunje pulling tools

I use the Cobra and rattler and when I need to tow, I bought the Snobunje towing kit. Fits in your hand and works like a charm. Been in some tight spots and never had one break. Wouldn't be without them. BTW you can buy them in Canada at www.snobunje.canada.com. Friend of my from Nova Scotia got one that way.:p

I have 3 of the sled-to-sled versions. My wife is an expert u-boat captain on her Vector and my spine is titanium, so I would have stopped letting her ride with me years ago without them!:p

The most times I've had to pull her 600# Vector out was when I was on my 450# VIPER! They work well....:beer;

Safe to assume everybody cuts the black plastic cover off theirs? Makes them a lot smaller to stow.

Don't remove the plastic . That is the part that stop it hitting you in the face .
