SnoScoot Clutch Mods

tore mine apart replace jets with 65 pilots 97.5 main.(pilot is hid under black plug)
thats what was penciled in in my owners manuel.
didnt check what was in there just changed them.
took primary clutch apart only 3 rollers in it not 6.
high altitude rollers are bigger i mic'd them to see.
started it before putting cover on and my belt rides low on secondary clutch.
any help there.( like 1/2 inch)
this would be like starting out in 2nd gear in a car.
on my 700 1/8 makes a difrence.

How did it run otherwise? Higher track speed? I think it may be normal for the belt to ride lower in these clutches, as Sumac mentioned, they run differently than normal CVT's, in that both "pulleys" are always spinning, and the shoes in the secondary engage the secondary to spin the track. Not positive though, just what I've researched.

We are waiting for a 6" die grinder bit to lengthen out the slots on the secondary, when we do that the belt shoud come out/up further but we are spacing the primary out so the belt drops in/down further so it should be taking off in 1st gear. As soon as I have pictures I will post......

Rollers

Don't know how it ran with only 3 rollers had nothing to compare it to.
We will see what the son thinks he ran 2 tanks off gas trough it.

Btw, I switched back to the 62.5 pilot just to see how it would react to a leaner pilot circuit, and it was way too lean producing a bog at lower track speeds. Put the 65 back in and it was a much smoother powerband, so I think the 97.5 main/65 pilot is the ticket for this elevation.

Good to know, I picked up a 65 pilot and a 100 main the other day. Maybe I'll have time to put them in tomorrow before company arrives.

Snow would have been way too deep for it today, so I'm kind of glad I didn't bother throwing it in the trailer.

clutch

apears to work ok.
did not regrease rollers and got a clicking sound so i took it apart at cabin and greased it.
grand son loves it
still have not figured out the front clutch workings yet.
secondary weight work as a cetrfical clutch so rpms makes weights drive track.
the front clutch must be allowing for some slipage at first.
so as speed inceases and less track resistance
the rollers will push harder on primary and cause the belt to climb,
shifting to a higher gear. i think.

primary clutch

how easy does your primary slide on shaft.
my clutch is hard to get on and off ?
rollers seam to stick .

Kind of off topic guys but... What is the speed/torque of these Sno-scoots like in stock form and when they are modded to 121s?
I am on the last season for my Boy on his 120 and I have a Briggs Motor in it now and the sled will do 30mph +
There is a couple for sale now in my area but I am also looking at the Phantom or Premier brand Sleds.
Thanks

Secondary with modded slots.......
IMG_02851_zps60d44653.jpg

The slots get really close to the oring grove.......
Then to get the Secondary to open all the way we had to narrow the shoes a bit.......

Now the belt rides all the way to the top so the Scoot is taking off in 1st gear..... We lengthened the slots both ways so it opens further so it has some more top end.
