The 2010-2011 kit will pull the 2009 kit by about 1-2 sled lengths. The biggest difference is in the midrange. The 2010 has a significant amount more torque and power through the middle of the power curve. On top, they are close.... but if you race the two up a hill, the 2010 comes out much harder and puts an easy sled length on the 09 right off the bat, then continues to pull over the 09 for a while until they start to even out and stay about two sled lengths apart. The 2010 defiantly has better throttle response and the engine spools a bit quicker than the 09. Some of this is probably due to the lighter crank. We are also using the PCV on the new ones which gives a few more options than the PCIII. We can program a start up mode to make the sled start easier...kind of like a choke.
As far as the reeds, they do help some...about 2-3 hp gain, but I don't know that you will feel it seat of the pants but they do help with throttle response. Keep in mind that the PCIII map was written with them installed so the mapping will be a bit more accurate when using the reeds, but I don’t' think they are something you absolutely need in this particular case. We have found that in most case the V-Force reeds make more power than the Boysen. We did not test the two back-to-back on the 09 with the kit, but I have been happy with the V-Force on this kit.
Hope this helps...feel free to post this if you like.
