A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM MDT THURSDAY.

SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO FALL OVER THE STAR VALLEY AS WELL AS THE SALT RIVER AND WYOMING RANGES THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING. BY THURSDAY MORNING... 8 TO 12 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED IN THE MOUNTAINS... WHILE 5 TO 6 INCHES SHOULD FALL IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS... WITH POTENTIALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS IN FAVORED FOOTHILL LOCATIONS. SO FAR... 5.7 INCHES OF SNOW HAS FALLEN AT THAYNE. A COLD FRONT LATE THIS EVENING WILL SHIFT THE WINDS TO THE NORTH AND CREATE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

"STATE OF AFTON 03-21-09"

My Fellow TEAMTALKer's;

Let me start with saying, we are all Sledheads, whether it be a POOmocrat, or a DOOplican. We all share a common goal for "Top Performance". Therefore we must come together and resolve our differences of this " "vision" of attaining "Top Performance." We must accept that, in the pursuit of this Performance, there are variations of "perfection." While it concerns me to profess the success of my POOmocrat adversarys, it is only fair and equitable to annouce that, yes indeed, the POOmocrat camp was victorious in a CERTAIN conditon. That is, they did emerge victorious in a flat drag at 9000'. All these POOmocrats were beaten out of the hole (none will contest this fact) and then pulled ahead of us DOOplicans anywhere from 100-200 yds down the ractrack. They then maintained a 2-3 sled length lead on the valiant DOOplicans until all sleds hit the incline part of the race hill. Now, let me make this perfectly CLEAR, once all sleds reached the incline part of this racetrack, the POOmocrats lead STOPPED, and in several cases was reduced, however, at the end of the racetrack, in most all races, the POOmocrats claimed victory. This was consistent whether it be 670 vs. 730 vs. 682 or 860 vs. 860.

NOW, one item that all are missing is this, all the POOmocrats ran a 15 inch wide track, and all the DOOplicans ran the 16 wide track, this is irrefrutable evidence that if you prefer to flat drag race, your choice of "Weapon of Mass Destruction", should be a 15 wide track.

However, during that same day, Ralphies 860 and my 670 made several passes on a "non-level" playing field against the POOmocrats. It was an offcamber hill, straight up but maybe only 200 yds. long, in almost every occasion, the DOOplicans were victorius, even my 670 against 800+ POOmocrats, now the POOmocrats won several of those races also, everyone had a chance since which lane you chose could have been bad (Too steep) or good (Less steep). Also that same fated day, Ralphie on his SHR 860 equaled a climb only taken by Hobbes's mighty TAPEX. Upon returning the the staring line and the masses of amazed TEAMTALKer's, Ralph's comment of "Take that POO up that" was counterd with, and I quote, "This sled won't make that climb." Again, irrefutable evidence that, if you want to climb, and climb well, your choice of "Weapon of Mass Destruction", should be a 16 wide track. ;)

I am concerned with the fact that, last time out on the "Afton Massacre Round I" The POOmocrats were severely beaten in uphill drags by the DOOplicans, and everyone chimed in with, "ya this, and ya but", yet when us DOOplicans reply in kind this time with "ya this, and ya but", we are severely chastised, that is just plain Not Fair.

Now in closing, let me say this about that, this week proved 4 things;
1). if you prefer to race "straight & flat" run a 15 inch wide track
2). If you prefer to race uphill, run a 16 inch wide track.
3). If you prefer to Highmark, run a 16 inch wide track.
4). If you prefer to run a POO or a DOO, the TOP engine builders around are without a doubt, Jack Struthers of Carl's Cycle, and John Wilmer of Sled Head Racing.
These 2 motor builders produce exceptional quality, outrun all (2-stroke) comers, and most importantly, their motors LIVE.
All these motors were given no quarter and were pinned most of the day.

One last comment (Courtesey of the immortal HAMMER), on any given day, with any given track, and with any given motor,

"Right now, can you on your sled, beat me on my sled." :cool:

looks like a great time had by all. wish i would have made it.

i bet the licatarian, yes i said licatrarian party,with it's canidate next year will have something to say in the race.

all i know is, i consider most of you a "hanging chad" i also know Bwock will get aroused by that kind of talk, he just can't help himself.

which one of you witty ones will think of the "i got your hanging chad for you" first? lol
 
I sure wish I could have brought my POO down there for ya'll to smell. I'd like to see how the ole 866 would've held up. If BC had the room or I had the cash for the solo drive down, I would've been there. And I think the 15" wide limo would make you think twice about needing a 16 incher for highmarking. Hopefully I'll have the new billets so I can ride this weekend even if I don't getta go to Afton. Sounds like everyone got new snow.
