Skinz warranty is a joke

I bought a skinz protective gear gripper seat cover for my nytro and after 5 rides all the stitching started coming apart. I took pictures and contacted skinz and was told It would be best for me to take it to a local upholstery shop and get it fixed. When I told them to send me a new one and i'd send this one back they said no because it would be over 2 months to get me a new one. Really? It takes two months to get a seat cover out?

I just don't think after paying $225 for a cover plus shipping, plus getting it put on that I should have to go pay an upholstery shop to fix it for me.

Think twice before you buy anything form them

This is what it started as. It's much worse now

I had a ripping issue with one of their coveres...lasted one way to MT from MN. They were very good about a replacement, no issues here, the product wasn't very durable though.

I had a apex seat recovered by Skid seats. So far it's been bullet proof, plus it looks badass (black & white carbon fiber print).

I was working with Jeff from Skinz in Nov. on ultra Q silencer. for D8. I asked him if it lost power with it on (most do). He said no and they had lots of people running them in Mtns. however he couldn't give me a contact name or number of any. I asked him if he had one of the proto types still around I could test when we did R&D run in Dec. I gave him Credit Card # and he was going to send it out. I would then return after testing. I never seen silencer and tried to call but never got response. This tells me that he not confident in his product!! His loss... if it would have worked I could have sold lots of them for him. Instead his buddy from the Twin Cities got on here and said how good they were! Ya Right!!

Damn Sawyer that sucks:mad:, They should have sent you a replacement with no BS with those pix.

that is crap. what do you have 10-15 hours on it this season. I can't imagine them not wanting to make it right with a guy like you who keeps his stuff pimped. it's not like it ripped......it blew a seam.

if you have to fix it, it better be on their dime.

Crap, I hope all the stuff I bought from them doesnt explode too!!!!!! I was about 2 red c-hairs from buying a seat cover too.....

Wow that really sucks, I have thier seat cover on my Dragon and have been happy with it. I also have a bunch of other Skinz products that I have been very happy with. They should send you a new one without question!! I'm sure going to keep an eye on my cover now.

We have 3 of his sled covers and we are happy with them. They are a little faded, but not terrible and they sit outside year round .

Sorry to hear of your bad experience.

1 bad out of 100 hundred maybe? mines fine and i wouldn't hesitate to take pictures get it fixed and wait for off season to sort it out, because i know they are out of stock!

First off, It stinks that you are having a problem.

Sawyer.. Who did you buy it from?

Also, The stitching did not come apart... the fabric tore along the "perforation" of the stitch line. That can be caused by many things including streching too tight during install.

This can't be repaired by a local shop as there is nothing there to stitch.

That being said, I know that Skins Protective Gear (SPG) has stood behind all of their products with me and has given me excellent customer service.

I installed a gripper top on a Dragon that got highly abused by a heavy guy and it is still holding up very well.

Jeff and Tammy, owners of SPG work very hard to make things work for their customers...They manufacture right here in the USA, difficult to do in these economic times, and move HUGE amounts of product thru WPS, DK and Royal plus all of the smaller dealerships and "mom and pop" home run business', their quality standards are very high and they have thousands of satisfied customers.

I also know that you are a stand up guy so the solution sould be coming soon.

Email me if you can (below in my signature)

Sawyer,
Sounds like Tammy from Skinz has been trying to contact you via email? They don't want to just send you out a new cover as they fear they might have a design flaw with the nitro cover. They are afraid the same thing may just happen again. Warranties often never go a smoothly as we would sometimes hope. Do you still have the stock cover? I know it sucks, but if you can get that sucker sent back to them they will surely try to get it turned around ASAP. I know we don't want to cut in to your riding time. Lucky :beer;
If there is anything I can do to help. Please let me know. I already talked to them to find out the situation. I sure tried to go to bat for you.

MTNRCR,
I believe Jeff had called your office a few times concerning the silencer test. You were supposed to get the Ultra Q off of my sled for testing. I'm prototyping another one. Apparently, there may have been some missed calls or some misunderstanding along the way.

Please don't be too hard on these guys. I know them personally and they are by far some of the nicest, hardest working people you will ever meet. They take extreme pride in giving you the best possible product they can. Working 7 days a week often from 7am till 11pm. That is a family truly dedicated to the sport.
Cheers everyone :beer;
