Silvertip's Playground 09

I went out 120 East (Benton Road) and then south up the Crooked Mdws Rd to about 1 mi from Crooked Mdws. This is an area that i logged in the early 70s.

Hope that help Don. :beer;

I think Crooked Mdws is opposite the June Lake loop.
The east side of the 395 between Bald Mountain and Sagehen Peak ???

I have been to Bald mountain a couple times.

Mono Crater's Pics

John:

Looks like the Craters might get some action this season. First hit that area back in '90 with Wayne Norton, Glenn Barnes and a few of the Bridgeport boys. Rode Dunderburg and Conway one day and hit the Craters the next day. Unloaded on the Eastside of the Craters on 120(8 miles in). Cal-Trans usually plows to the turn-out area. Played in the Craters, did the Punch Bowl and made a loop down to Mammoth(back way into town), Bald Mtn. and back to the Craters. Great area. Little bit of everything. Been back several times. Tried to get some guys to hit it last season, but couldn't get everyone on the same page.

Thanks for those pics. Brings back great memories. Had to go pull out my old snowmo pic album.

I stopped in @ Busteres and got Wayne phone # down in NM. The guy said Wayne was doing good. I well be calling him this afternoon. I start riding with him in 1969. Started riding Deadman (395) area in Jan 1968. We were logging out the tunnel rd. Logged out 120 E. on a number of sales the last being in 1987 out by Glass Mtn. I want to tell you GREAT riding out there.

On my way home I was looking at some LITTLE hills and runs and thinking how we could not climb them in the powder and now everyone can with the new sled. :eek:

If you wouldn't mind a OLD DUDE riding with you let me know when your thinking of going down and I will make a point of being there. LOVE that AREA. :beer;

Just got over here to check things out......cool pics John, I'm happy to see someone getting off their arse and going for a burn. Those last pics look like north of Elko in early season. Keep the reports coming!

Was going to say the same thing. Those dirt roads with brush on both sides could be any road in NE Nevada.

AO and I went to johns little spot off of hwy 120 only did about 1.3 miles there. The snow was bleek only about three to four inch of snow. Loaded up and headed to Mammoth which turned out to be not half bad. I would say about two feet in some areas we were able to go off trail get some powder in the track. I was able to do a little side hilling and able to scratch up the new Assualt apperently the new IQ chassi leans over a little easier than the old edge ended up pulling to hard and ended up in the trees grabbing a hand full of throttle and scratching up the new sled not bad though sh!tl buff out. We did 20 miles and I even found a kicker to huck the new sled to.....First ride of the season and extreamly happy with the new sled.. Sure glad I bought a POLAIS.

Hey Kris:

Wondering if you hit the "juice button" to make sure it worked? Goggs look sharp - you be stylin' & profilin'.

Z man thanks and no I did not test the button wanted to break in the engine first then it is on. Sled is great though even got to test out the sidehilling capability works good real easy to lay over. It will take a little while to get used to but all in all great the shocks were great no more bottoming out nice smooth ride. Looking forward to Hucking the sled.

Matty Mac we Polaris has to open up the hood once in awhile to cool off all that Power it seems to get hot when you are pulling all those horsies....
