SILBER PRO KITS

AV GAS MON

When you refer to straight AV gas is this race fuel or what type of fuel?

AVGas or Aviation fuel is mostly referring to 100LL. :plane: (there are other types of "AV gas" but for our purposes in sleds... we are referring to 100LL)

You can get it at many local airports, though some will not allow you to pump it into anything but a plane. :face-icon-small-fro

This gas is much higher quality than today's pump fuels, it is much more stable over time and does not contain alcohol.

Lots of rumors about it being a gas that "dries things out" or runs poorly. All I can say is, IMO... that is a lot of "myth"

It DOES have different thermal properties to it...but IMO makes a great turbo fuel... you will give up slight throttle response with aviation fuel... but this is almost imperceptible.

"AV GAS" 100LL is rated at 104 MON (Motor Octane Number)... 110 Sunoco/VP is rated at 106 MON. Both have tetra-ethyl-lead in them. 100LL is rated on a special aviation test... different than MON... 110 Sunoco is rated "110" as a R+M/2-Octane number, which is the same as auto fuel standards at the pump, with the actual MON being rated at 106 MON.

AV gas on anything below 11psi at altitude, IMO, is a waste of money... and you will have less throttle response than a proper mix of AV/Pump at these lower boost levels.

Over-Octane can hamper performance... just like it does in cars... But it does not have the engine problems that under-octane can cause from deto.

Also, IMO, as presented in another thread... turn up your oil injection pump on the PRO RMK... especially for the turbo guys.

I think he is holding off on pics until the kits are ready to ship. My thoughts are he is coming out with something new and doesn't want other to borrow his ideas until after he has sold a run of them. Doesn't make sense to build interest in something that's not ready for sale....people would complain about that too.

Has it been confirmed that Justin is using the Comp Oilless or other oilless turbo... or is this an oil-tank/pump equipped turbo with some other setup that will make it "hybrid"?

We should know in the next couple weeks. :face-icon-small-sho

Justin has done a great job of not spilling the beans :face-icon-small-coo

I spoke with him last week and he is waiting for the final parts to come in from various places and then he will release the kit.

Hello snowester,

We wanted to clarify with everyone, as there are alot of rumors out there about our setup.

First off, the Turbo. We are not running the Comp oil less turbo. We have done extensive testing with them, and have choose not to run that turbo as its not up to our performance standard. If you need more information on this give me a call, I can tell you everything you need to know about this turbo.

We our running a standard automotive turbo, with tank and pump. This turbo is our own line, built to our specs and housings. This allows us to get the instant boost spool up, and top end performance. Again if you want more information give me a call.

We will also be releasing our own line of turbos to the market within a year. These turbos are all developed for the two stroke engine. We will have many housing options, and they will be fully servicable.

Exhaust, all exhaust piping is Stainless steel, flanges are stainless steel, and our new 14" muffler is also stainless steel. The turbine housing is ceramic coated and polished.

Our new BOV is more compact, and has a new o ring sealing surface.

Aem is not willing to work with us anymore, so we are switching to the new Innovate MTX wideband gauge.

All aluminum parts including airbox and oil stand, or polished to a chrome like finish.

Turbo intake will adapt into the stock intake plenum in the hood, to allow fresh outside air into the turbo.

Again, if you have any futher questions or concerns feel free to give me a call.

i call bs to all of the turbo builders ( I ride a bd turbo and im calling bs to them as well not bashing just one) show us what we are buying i know and you know your not going to change a year or more worth of the research and copy someone else product. my thought it isn't done and you don't have pics to post

Personally I wouldnt release anything till I was darn good and ready either. people would bitch no matter what and No info stops the spread of bad info. if you have ever spent much time reading here you would agree there are enough opinions than nessesary already.

as far as the kits not being ready. maybe not. for example I read that silber is producing something like 100 kits assuming half is parts that adds up to 260,000.00 in parts I have owned a business for 25 years and that is rolling some dice my freind. its easy to second guesss when its not your $

IMO give them a brake Not one of use have more at stake than any of these builders do.

We as consummers have a deposit or some of us have paid in full.BIGDEAl the builders have a whole lot more at stake than any of us do.

We decided to carry the Silber line in our shop because of Justin's great service. SkiB also has one of Justin's test sleds from last year that runs awesome.

We can't wait to get our kits in stock and have 2 new 2012's to use as Demos :face-icon-small-coo

To clarify, yes we had planned to run the oil less design turbo, With all the testing we have done we can assure you they are not ready for the snowmobile market yet.

We dont want to put out a bad product. We test every part to its fullest. Even when we are not able to ride sleds, we have vehicles (car and truck) that we test alot of our turbo parts on.

This turbo that will come in the kits, is fully serviceable. We have designed this new turbo to our specs to fit the 800cc engine. This is the first turbo we have ever been able to get boost on the track stand blipping the throttle.

In the future, with the release of our turbochargers we will be offering upgrades for cost for a GTR Dry lube turbocharger center.

Again, please contact me with any questions or concerns. We apprieciate everyones patience. We have been super busy, and with a few of our suppliers going under, moving into a new shop, and having our 4 axis cnc mill brake down, we have been pushed to the limit. I have personally been working very late welding and assembling parts to get caught up.

As for people thinking we are going the cheap route. Its would have been cheaper for us to go the oil Less turbo route, if it would have been ready for the market.

Thanks again
Justin

I bought in when the supplied turbo was a comp oiless, now its just an "automotive turbo"? I was also told the kits would begin shipping middle of Oct., now here we are near the end of the month and not only are they not shipping, but the turbo supplier has changed and there aren't even pictures of the final setup.

This appears to as poorly planed as the release of the pro climb, I'm ready to pull my deposit and start looking elsewhere.

If you want a comp turbo, I will build you a one off build with one. But I can promise you its not going to spool up until around 6500 rpms. We also have to pull 64% fuel on the bottom end to get them to move, otherwise it will sit there sputter and fart.

We are sorry for the changes in the kit, but are confident that they will exceed your expectations.

justin, i see u have a option for an intercooler. is this something that will help alot.. and are you still shootin for the end of this month to release kit. thanks

We never advertised a comp turbo, We told people that we have been testing with them and planned on running them if everything panned out. The whole time we have had our own line brewing.

Thanks

Kinda was looking forward to an oil less turbo, but thanks for not selling us something that wasn't ready! Looking forward to getting the kit and getting it on the sled. Instant spool up, IMO, is WAY better than not having an oil resivoir.

So with the changes to the set up is the intercooler an option now? And if so how much to upgrade it?

At sea level I hear it helps a lot. Am I too far off with that?

Also (with no owning a turboed sled experience) do you have to worry about flipping the sled over and draining all the oil out like you do on a yammi?
