Sickest Climb in WA?

biggest climb ever

Preist lake Idaho north end of the lake. Bring a set of balls and a clean pair of shorts. If you like to scare yourself this is the best place to do it.

"yesterday we went up to 5000' (GPS) but it was getting too dark to go any farther... about 5500' it gets alot steeper, and there is no flat place to stop at the top."

With Marble snow park closed where are U parking?

Hill Climbs

Ok then how about Hart's pass area. I'm not sure what they call the hill but boy o boy it's a heck of a climb.

OK, it's official, the spot I mentioned on Blewett is not nearly as tough as it looks.

The slide area hill at Blewett you are referring to has actually claimed a life. A guy not thinking climbed up the slide area from the trail on a spring day with hard snow. He went up quite a ways and then realized he couldn't slow down. Picked up alot of speed and hit the trail and then launched out into space and fell at least 100'. This was probably at least 15 years ago. Dead.

Ball-sack is a quite unambiguous looking short climb that appears to terminate into the trees. But there is a very narrow slot into the trees and you climb the avy chute all the way to the top of the ridge. It starts near the road to Knox Creek and winds up on top of North Peak.

Are you talking about that shoot thats on the left side of the road right past where you turn off to go up knox creek? If thats "ball sack" thats not at all an extreme climb. The first time I climbed that was when I was 12...it looks steep, but it isn't.

H20SKE If I rememder right that day. I climb the horse barn to lookout chute. And you roll a boorrowed sled down the hill. I might have pics.[/QUOTE

Alright who's the Whack case that would let Paul borrow a sled to go to Baker with?

Ya - i was looking at this climb this last weekend. It does look pretty intense!

If your sled has reverse use it for the steep death run down hills, it works excellent. I use all the time coming down chain hill. You have better control *** the *** end stays very straight and does not get sideways. Use the throttle to control your speed. If you keep you speed down from the start you can stop the sled on any hill no matter how steep. Nail the throttle wide open and you will just dig the back end in. It works great to have lunch at the top of a steep hill. Dig it in and enjoy. It does feel wierd when you hit the gas and slow down and snow is shooting out the front of the sled. We don't need no stinking chains. PS Dont kill the motor.

It has to thrash your moter.

It's all about snow conditions.

Isn't it all relative to how much horsepower and track we have now. Climbing from the horse shed to the lookout was THE SH*T about 1995 or so. With the tracks and power we have today with stock sleds......not really much of a challenge. Of course it's all about snow conditions now isn't it.

Lots of sick climbs, chaincase is not a hard pull my 10 year old pulls it in the spring time but it can be interesting if you pull the right hand chute for fun we did yesterday.
I really thing the biggest pucker factor int he state is the ride to the summit at baker, if you have ever done it you would know why and it is easy to tell if you really have summited baker just by asking what the summit is shaped like. Only people that have been up there would know the answer.

Every time I think I have done something sick I just watch BDSO and go back in my world and realize I'm just an average joe when it comes to those guys:-)

Hill

Its big and flat,Ill bring the cd of pics for those with the fancy motor home with screens and dvd players:D:beer; If a few of us southenders bring some wood can we break into your fire ring?:beer;:beer;at the big bbq?

Well some of it is big and flat but there is one thing aboutit that we that have been there know about it and if you think about it you know it also but don't tell. Because the summit is more than just cresting the hill.

As a S&R member I can tell you that is the area we call the "rock slide" It is also the one single area in the Blewett system that has more injuries and destroyed sleds and even a truck, than all other areas around there combined.
There is NO runout at the bottom....I was on the call out wqhen a 17 year old used his head to stop in the trees. It was a massive head injury..sled destroyed..never wanted to know the outcome of the injuries..Medivac to Hrborview....they were not good. this was only about 4 years ago.

Lets put it this way...most of the locals ride right past that spot and typically the injuries all are from "out of towners". The upper hill above the groomed trail, doesnt hold snow worth a crap..lots of rocks and you will be hard pressed in the winter to find a way out thru the top there.
