Show us pictures of you sled decks!!!

To help your bed mount system out I use 3/4 plywood cut in 12 x 12 squares and put them under the feet of the deck to help spread the weight across a larger area. Has worked for couple of years now.

actually the floor of my deck is boxed 4ft by 8ft, spreads the load over the entire area. the issue was caused by the old tiedowns lifting the outside of the pickup box while the front crossmember is trying to hold it down then the load rocking side to side on rough roads and around corners

I'm curious if fueling both sleds is an inconvenience with a sled deck. I can't imagine that the fuel hose will reach both sleds. So do you guys have to move the truck to get fuel in the other sled?

How is it any different then a trailer? It is actually less distance, because the hose doesn't have to go down so low. For hauling 4 sleds a deck and 2 place is the only way to go.

I don't get what you are saying. It is different from a trailer because the sleds on a trailer are not so high in the air. I can pull up to a pump with my trailer and get both sleds with one fuel hose. I was just curious if you can do the same with two sleds high up on a sled deck.

Yes you can fill both sled on a deck with hose to spare. The distance of two sled on a deck is shorter than two sleds lower on a trailer. Its just getting up on the deck that sucks sometime.

How do you stand up there and get the sled stopped to get it tied down or whatever you need to do without it sliding back down?
Ride up on the deck, lock the brake, walk down to ramp, lower the deck. I use the ramp as a ladder to get back on the deck to tie them down. When I unload I lock the brake untie the sleds raise the deck, then just ride the sled back down the deck, usually makes it all the way down.

How many of you guys have been hassled with the decks on 3/4 ton shortboxes?

Sorry, but they look like cop magnets!

Here is my little deck I built.

I have a 3500, but same thing. Never been hassled. There is nothing to hassle about. It is 100% as legal as a long box. Mine only overhangs about 18" off the back, you don't even need reflectors or anything for that distance. But with a 12' sled is hangs out pretty good, but again never been hassled, it's still all legal. And my truck is about as big of cop magnet as you can get :D

Depends on the GVW if you're running a 3/4 ton ;)

I run a 7' 6" STF with 163s on it all the time I have superclamps and use ratchet straps front and back also on long trips and I have never had a problem or been hassled. Do you guys think thats stupid? I" asked BC department of transportation about sled decks last year because ive seen so many stopped and they said they wont bother you too much about them as long as the deck is tied down good as well as the sleds and that means straps on the back too, Plus any deck that extends wider than the truck requires lights on 4 corners and proper mirrors. He also said that they dont like to see sagged out trucks and they will hassle you about that so if you need airbags, get em. my sled sticks out a long ways but with proper tie downs its very secure I think my setup is ok.

By the way I run a F-250 ex cab short box with air bags.
