few questions, how much does a beginners setup cost no deep diving just little stuff to get started. how much would something like that cost? i have a instructor here in town to get certified just wondering a good setup thats not to hard on the wallet

Mask $100
Fins $100
Wetsuit $200
BC $200
Regulator set up with computer +-$this is all over the place!
Rent tanks at first unless you do alot of diving, then buying would be better. 80cf aluminum tank you can find used for $100 or so.......

EBAY can be your firend if you know what to look for

If your going to be diving in cold water you will want a cold water regulator set up. Cheap ones will almost always freeflow in cold water.......

I have found the best results in +-34 degree water with the Poseidon Odin regulator set up.

Warm water (Ocean) it does not matter as much........

Having said the above, I have about $5,000 of gear over the years. About $2,500 of that is a gas powered 5,000psi compressor though.....That is for diving up on Isle Royal (LAke Superior) where there is not a dive shop within 200 miles of where we dive........

I find that diving in Lakes gets real old real fast unless there is something to see. Wreck diving is where you see the cool stuff.....

If you have any questions, drop me a line. I have learned alot about this sport over the years and just might be able to guide you away from making the same equipment mistakes I did.......

Im going to be a bad PADI instuctor and tell you to buy used equipment. Many get into it then give it up. Why I don't know? It's an awsome sport!
The problem with cold water regulators is not free flow but freeze up. Many regs out there work well ini cold water. I have both Oceanic Titans and Scuba pro Mk2s and 25s and they all work great.
Buy your mask new, everything else used. Get your reg serviced and you can buy everything for a few hundred dollars.
What ever the cost, it's so worth it. If you have questions about buying used equipment, Id too woould be happy to asnwer them. Good luck and safe diving!
