Last season my sled worked almost perfect with only some fuel controller issues. During my last ride of the season at Togwotee I was blowing SC belts, and had a wreck. Since it needed repair anyway I decided to go for the finishing touches. I dropped the sled at Troy's (Lincoln County Customs), in March 09and he did an awesome major workover. Sled is friggin sweet with a new CR tunnel and it finished 100% of the light weight parts. Sled weighs in wet ready to ride around 625. Over 30k to get the sled to this point. In July I picked up my sled from LCC and went directly to MPI and had some SC work done to get more sneaky boost out of the Stage I. Came back to CO and dropped the sled for storage.
October snow fell, and first ride blew two carbon fiber belts in 10 miles. In November I took sled to MPI and found my blower was gone. Deciding more boost was the way to go I dove into the stage II, clutching, upgraded fuel system, and a ton more that Heath installed. Sled was set to run at 18 pounds of boost when I left MPI. No snow in UT so when we hit CO we dropped the sled for a quick spin. No more blowing SC belts, but it wouln't run for crap. No matter what I did it was rich. Decided not to take the sled home, but to take it to Trey at High Altitude Boost. Found the fuel pressure was way high. Ordered and changed out the Yamaha fuel regulator. Didn't work. Ordered an MCX fuel controler. Got the pressure set, but the sled would run rich or lean, never right. Thought the new MPI fuel system was overload so changed it out, not the problem. Did leak down test, motor is 99%...running out of options and I've always had controller issues so Trey contacted MCX who said there fuel control system would work with the SC, so just been waiting for it to show up. Supposed to be here this week, and who knows how long it will take to map it for this elevation.
Anyway I dropped over 10k this season and drove about 30 miles on my SCApex. lol... I think its funny....We haven't had great snow anyway. Plus I'm saving a ton by not riding or taking trips.
Now for the best part of the season. Trey from HA Boost loaned me his MCX Nytro for the past month while he was off working and traveling. I don't know many people I'd trust with my 30k plus sled for a month. I was scared to even take him up on the offer, but couldn't resist. So logged a few hundred miles on a turn key sled, climbed stuff I never could before with only my Stage 1, but hoped to with my Stage II.
Now I'm thinking of trying to pry his sled from him. I'm still planning to have my SC Apex in the trailer, but if this MCX fuel control system don't work....Its gone. I thought of parting it out to recoupe some cash, but now I'm thinking I'd just sell it for 6k as a mechanic special. Maybe someone can make it 100% at a diferent elevation. It definately don't like the CO elevation. Makes me a little sick to lose 30k, but it may be time to start over.
