Rob's First House

All the oak trim is done with its first layer of lacquer now, quick sand and shoot two more coats and that will be done too. Will check after work how the mud dried, hopefully textone tomorrow, white paint tw coats on Friday, and color over the weekend.

Cabinets maybe start moving in on Monday? we'll see.....
Siding should have two more nights worth of work, maybe three, but done this weekend for sure if the rain would ever hold up.

Speaking from experience when you get to the stage of hanging 'rock...it feels really good to get to that point....and then getting it taped, ooo la la. It's nice...but the texture is GREAT and the paint...well that feels REEEEEEALLY good. And then you'll still have a month before you can move in. LOL

Haha ya I figured that too.

We are doing a lot of the interior work ourselves too, so finish time is going to be about 3 weeks or so I am going to guess. They are going to put two coats of white on for us (so we don't have to paint ceilings or closets, plus our color paint will coat better) then comes color, we are doing our own flooring, and also doing all the wood for the house. Would be REALLY nice to be done before thanksgiving and have both me and the bride to be's famil over, but that is kinda pushing I think....

Guess time will tell, they always say figure time line then add a week, but so far our contractor has been AWESOME at getting things done, even though weather has less than ideal for us..

Finished the siding tonight, THANK GOD!!!!! LMAO!!!!
Was one of those projects that took forever, mostly because of weather....

They got both coats of paint on today, so it was finishing the drying when I left tonight. Should add some color to the walls tomorrow after we finish up packing up all our equipment....

Hey Rob, I just noticed you out foam on the exterior of the house, what type of insulation are you doing? Hopefully not fibergalss with poly barrier. Make darn sure you have an HRV or Air2air if you dont, or your house will rot from the inside out.

No poly barrier over the foam, seen that happen too. Only place we were using the poly barrier is on the tops of the peaks and also the garage where the 1" foam is not present.

The insulation is blown in cellulose, the only place I used fiberglass is around the backside of the kitchen and the bathroom, both as sound barrier haha, because I didn't want the "shower" to be heard in the living room haha..... and then also going to use it in the garage.

OK, so no pics for a while so figured time to update things.

All the siding is done now, all the oak trim is done, and paint is going on the walls and sub-floors are going in so we can start flooring this weekend. Cabinets go in tomorrow morning, so should start looking like a real house here in the next week...

Looks Good Rob... Not only a first house, but a brand new one at the same time... Congrats:beer;:beer;:beer;:D:D

So havent updated this thread in a long time, I think it is mostly because I have been spending a LOT of time getting things finished there, lack of grabbing the camera at night, and lack of ambition when I get done for the night...

Right now all plumbing is done, all electrical is done, a LOT of the finish work is done, just a lot of time consuming finish work and flooring needs to be finished, then it shoud be ready for final inspection....

Here are the pics...

The Man pot, upgraded this bad boy to flush a small vehicle if I had too, hate the double flush or the worry if it will all go down...
