Rob's First House

Yup, 2x4 construction with blown in insulation, with 1" foam outside of that. Seals up real nice and has a pretty high R value.

And ya, not many fences in the area, pretty new area we are building, but one is in the plans. Need to get my shop, driveway to it and other landscaping in first, love fenced yards.

Well, took Friday off of work and decided to work oon the house, and hopefully get the roof on. Rained all night and that morning, so some good amount of water in the kitchen that was shopvac'd all day. Cleaned up and started roofing on Friday night.... and by Saturday night we were done! Gotta thank Bump187, xc_rider08, and copter6 for their help.... Sunday got the home audio ran throughout the house, 5 zones as my first home system...

Well, went to the house today to finish the insulation, all the cellulose(sp?) is sparayed in and grinded off, conduit is ran for the sound/video system, extra fiberglass put in interior walls to keep other sound down, and then finished putting plywood in the rafters in the garage for misc. stuff, extra 180sq ft of storage...

Well, put on siding this last weekend in 30 degree weather with 30 mph wind, with just enough snow to make it that much more miserable...

So decided tonight to start spraying Lacquer on the wood package, used a paint gun and did the whole thing in about 2 hours...
Spilled some of the lacquer and used the last tshirt - my breathing mask - and had to suffer till i could find a replacement... notice how thick the air is hahaha

One bit of advice.
take pics.
LOTS of pics.
Take pics of every phase of the construction.
That way you will know 10 years from now, where the wire is run, where the piping is.
If there is a problem you can figure out what it could be without tearing out walls.

For sure on that--and don't hesitate to put a tape measure in the picture! They look a hell of lot different with sheet rock on the walls than when they are bare studs!

Fiancee and I are taking LOTS of pics so far, we were close to 600 total before the sheetrock I believe. Got lots of pics of the wiring and also a lot of pics of the plumbing in the house, both gas and water/sewer. That was oen thing I was VERY glad I did, plus I know all the distances of rafter/studs etc in the house, so I can find pretty close to where every wire is above my sheetrock or something is inside a wall using a stud finder and a tape. :beer;

And ya, sprayed all the lacquer on with an air gun and when trying to pour a full gallon of this crap inside a small paint can is not possible I found out without a mess, ended up using the last non-rag I had for stain haha, worked till I stared feelin dizzy and getting sick and grabbed a towel from upstairs, shhhhh haha.

Note: Lacquer leaves a fine finish on all nose hairs, head hair, and is very hard to get off haha. Will hopefully have a good resperator tonight or something better than a towel haha.

Been hitting the siding hard now that there is a little break in the weather...
