How's the snow near crooked creek now? Been riding near lava-brooks-tog for a few years looking at trying crooked next week.

Just got back from the Crooked Creek area! Snow was good if you went about 15-20 minutes South or West. Getting tracked up as there has been no new snow now for a few days. The guides were ok but expensive! I would not get a guide as there are so many places to go. Not a lot of hill climbing but all the powder and boondocking you could ever want. We found a few rocks but for the most part they were covered up. Overall had a very good time!!

Crooked Creek 6 days of riding

Just got back from riding Union Pass. Rode 12-28 thru 1-02. Good snow and lots of varied terrain. We found untouched powder every day, stick your skis between the trees and get off the trail. you'll be rewarded with one untouched meadow after another, drainages, and climbs to challenge all skill levels.

Gotta give Terry and his crew at Crooked Creek Guest Ranch a big thanks. They made us feel at home from the start. Great food and drink, feeding Lucy the moose through the window, it doesn't get any better.

Where are you renting, Lava, Union Pass,etc?

Union Pass, been riding there for 14 years, can always find snow. Have had a few of our group not able to make it this year weddings and other. Thats what happens when yo make reservations in May. Great house at 8500 ft. lots of room, gas at Crooked Creek or Lineshack 1/2 mile away.

Were planning a last minute trip to the togwatee area . Can anyone tell me about The Line Shack ? Looks good on the web site , just looking for some feedback (good or bad ) Thanks

Not sure if you already went on your trip but Line Shack is a great place to stay. My friends and I have been riding out of there for over 10 years. The lodge seems to stay the most consistent on the mountain and Kenny and Rob are always good to bs with at the bar. Breakfast is included with the price of the room. We typically stay outside in the row house, no noise from the bar and you walk right out to your sled. Only one year did we find ourselves riding for Tog because of lack of snow in the area.
