REVIEW: iBackshift Ski-Doo Clutch Kit

Last season I ordered a new clutch kit for my 2024 Turbo Summit from iBackshift.
But as the season rolled along I never managed to get the kit installed.
This year I made sure to put that new clutch kit onto my sled.
Saturday was my first ride of the season and I just wanted to take a moment to confirm, once again, just how much I LOVE this kit.

Many years ago I ran across iBackshift when I needed a new clutch for my 2009 Supercharged Yamaha Nytro.
The kit worked incredibly well back then, but when I jumped ship from Yammi over to Doo, I never thought to order another kit.

STUPID MISTAKE on my part.

While the snow is nothing to write home about in Island Park yet, the difference in performance and engagement on the new clutch is nothing short of STRIKING.
It really made me SERIOUSLY question myself as to WHY I didn't order this sooner and get it installed.

The Summit is just sooo much more responsive to small throttle variations now than it was before.
She feels more "Eager" to engage and take off the moment I roll into the throttle, and yet it still disengages just as smoothly as could be.
So the sled doesn't feel twitchy at all.

As the snow gets deeper and I have more opportunity to run the clutch under long full boost pulls I will report back on this thread.
But for now, for Saturday's ride, I just couldn't be HAPPIER with its over all performance.

Literally, from the MOMENT I drove off the trailer I instantly felt the difference and REMEMBERED how much I loved the first kit on my Yammi.

If you are considering a new Clutch Kit, I couldn't give a stronger endorsement. :)

I've ran a lot of Joe's (iBackshift) clutching over the years on my Doo's and he always has it pretty much dialed. If you are looking for some specific characteristic in your clutching it is worth talking to him as well since he can usually get you very close.
Just the basic ORDER PAGE makes sure your going to get a semi-custom package.

All my riding buddies with Doos use Ibackshift clutching. I ordered a kit but with mailstrike in Canada it is lost in limbo for the last month. I installed the springs from kit as they were available from Dalton easily enough and that alone made a nice difference. Hoping the rest of kit will show soon. Would like to get the Helix and weight kit for more fine tuning.

I must concur with your statements. My friends and I have used ibackshift clutching in 6 Gen 4 850's and have had tremendous results with his setup. This year 3 of us bought new Summit-X 165 Turbos. We got clutching from Joey at ibackshift right out of the gate. Easy instructions and videos as always and got them banged out and installed in an afternoon.

Right out of the gate loading sleds onto the sled deck to go ride the first time this season and you could feel the differnece in engagement loading the sleds. Super smooth, responsive, and predictable. I had a feeling this would be a great day!!

Get on the mountain............we were at 7400 ft, with about 14-18" of fresh light glitter pow on top of a settled base. Enough soft stuff to have fun and carve / side hill but essentially go anywhere as the base was setup solid. The sleds ran so dang good! Still in break-in but the engagement smooth as butter............the back shift was amazing like we have come to expect from Joey's kits.............and in a wide open pull the sleds would tach 7900 and hold it solid.

We just have that one trip on the snow but the kits worked as desired and his settings and reccomendations for us worked awesome right out of the gate! I am a believer in ibackshift clutching and will continue to use them in the future.

On a side note we also used his ski damper and that product like his clutch kits works extremely well. We utilized those last season on our NA Gen 4 850's and loved the product so we re-upped and put them in the turbo sleds and they worked again as advertised. It was a great first day on the mountain and we can't wait to get out there once again!

Skidoo has done a good job as well on the Gen 5 turbo I am blown away with that sled. Laughs and smiles in my helmet all dang day! I am a big dude 6'-2" and 250 with gear on and some hills / pulls I would climb on my 175 850 NA Gen 4 that towards the top I would have to sidehill out of............I can now poke straight up and over the top wheeling and laughing............oh these sleds are incredible. The clutching makes it all that much more fun! Joey is a great dude and if you ever have questions or need help he is great to work with on the phone as well..........just a good guy. Someday I hope to have a beer with him a good dude.

That's what I know............I can't say enough good about our experience with his products. I highly recommend them and also..........if you don't have a set of clutch tools his tools are worth it as well...........they make the job a heck of a lot easier and his videos show how to use them all. Top notch! Sorry for the novel but I just wanted to give props to Joey and ibackshift as well. Cheers to the season ahead! Dave

I also installed a set of the new iSidehill Ski Dampers.
But with our current LOW SNOW conditions, I really have NOTHING to report back on as yet concerning performance.
They worked fine on my recent trail ride, but that was no test.

I have been using his clutch kits for 6 years now, on 3 different sleds and have been very impressed with the results! It’s always the first mod I order for my sleds.
yup
Really surprised that I had forgotten how nice it was..
This DOES need to be one of the things that is installed on all newly acquired sleds.

Hey Christopher, thanks for the review. :DI can't believe I missed you posting this.
And the rest of you gents commenting, thank you very much.
Its my test guys that helped me make this kit, so it's wAAAy bigger than me, its them too.
Thanks
Joey
Honest to God.
