Revelstoke 2012 - 13

Hey guys, making a trip out to Revy again around December 14-21.. We always stay at peaks lodge, Any body have any word how the trail up the hill is from the cabin? Or how far do you have to drive up dump off etc. Really hoping the trails up will have enough snow by the time we come, cant wait!

Rely Dec 4

Just got home, the snow was incredible with at least 2 to 3 feet fresh if not more in last couple days up top, rain like crazy in valley, still going up to 3-4 km at boulder
And up to the first Y at sale

Rode yesterday and today. Handle bar deep and blower pow on top. Good early base except for down low. Need snow pack down low fast. Cooler temps have brought some snow over the last few nights. But more is needed to get the trail base coming along.

Are you able to unload in the parking lot yet or still up the road a few km's?
Thanks!

Latest conditions

Rode boulder on wed and thurs of this past week, snow conditions were unreal for this time of year, soooo much deep powder! We only made it as far as sugar bowl on wed as visibility was on and off but we did manage to get some sunny periods in making for some incredible riding times, plus there was only a hand full of people on the mountain and untouched powder everywhere. Thursday was even better, a small group of us went half way to turbo carving up as much fresh untouched powder as we could find, visibility was about 80 percent and again no other sledders back in that area. Just an amazing couple of days!

Deep on Boulder

It was deep on Boulder yesterday. Visibility wasn't the best, there was snow in our faces all day, and not the stuff falling from the sky, haha. We were back through the Lakes playing in the trees, 3+ ft deep, ...nice powder!!! Over the hood all day! Pretty white coming back over the top from the Lakes in the afternoon!

Jimmy was topping up his gas after 50km's, ..you know we were playing hard!!

Brian out on his new Nyt-Pro

We dropped into the airport on Sunday and it was deeep! Good to see you guys Ron. The powder in some of the little bowls below the airport was shoulder deep. Had to make to old apex work a few times. Visibility wasn't great, but the snow made up for it.

To you guys that spend time up in revy. When is the best time to come up there as far as weather goes. My buddies made a trip up over the weekend and said the weather wasnt to good.

Best time...

The best time for a trip is pretty much anytime!! Yes, at this time of the year you are not as likely to get a Blue Sky ride as you well in later February and March through May. At this time of the year the weather systems move in quickly from the coast, ..which is of course what brings the big deep Powder!!!

I say anytime, as there is never a bad day of sledding, some are just better, ...and then there are those awesome days!! If it is socked in and the vis is bad, go play in the trees and enjoy the ride!! Make the best of it and hopefully you will catch a blue sky day during your trip.

Cheers

Huge dump!!!

We have received a huge dump of snow in the last 24 hrs, according to reports passed along by the groomer operators. They are reporting 24" of fresh on Frisby, and 12" of fresh on Boulder, (..I am sure Boulder probably got the same amount, probably just further back from where the groomer stopped and checked at).

We got lots in town as well, more on the west side than the east however?? Parking lots and lower trails well be good!!!

Merry Christmas

Holiday Season sledding

The Holiday Season sledding was great!! Good to see most everyone again! We rode from the 28th through the 31st consecutively. Boulder aand Turtle. Great snow at both, Trails at Boulder were groomed smoother than a highway, hats off to the Groomer guys. Trench's were deep going into Turtle, ..the usual dog and pony show with sleds stuck all over, but it's all good and part of the adventure for lots!

Still lots of Powder on both mountains, just gotta spread out a bit to find the untracked. Fresh snow coming Friday and over the weekend.

Couple of pics when we got above the fog at Turtle on the 31st.

Ride Revelstoke?

I will be driving down from AK and would like to meet up with somebody to ride Revelstoke on January 10, 11, 12. Anybody interested in meeting up? I am intermediate to advaced rider. Just shoot me a PM.

Fresh snow

We received a good amount of fresh in town overnight, ..between 4 to 6 inchs depending on where in town you were checking. Seemed like a pretty solid 6" on my driveway. I got that all snow blown off just before the plow came by and threw a big windrow of snow off the road back up onto my driveway, ..just gotta love that.

It started snowing again around 4pm this afternoon, another 4" so far, in two and a half hours, with a bunch more forecasted before Tuesday. Should be lots of fresh powder again before the weekend. Anyone looking for some exercise can stop by for driveway clearing... lol.

Cheers
