Replacing Klim Power X Pullover?

S

I have had my PowerX Pullover for about 4-5 years. I absolutely love it and maybe I just need to get another.

The reason I am even considering switching is, black gear, black sled, and buddy's say I am hard to see in the trees.

I wear a tec vest under it, and don't need a bunch of insulation. I looked at the Impulse coat and the Tobe, but in pics they look heavy(warm). It doesn't take much to keep me warm. If the suns out and it's 20 or so my coat is usually in my pack. I also carry a warmer coat in my pack for emergencies.

Any suggestions to something comparable to my PowerX that will hold up and keep me dry? Or should I stick with what I have, just get a different color? Guess I could wait for the 15 gear to come out too.

Why not a bright colored Klim one? Every time I try to replace my Klim stuff with something else I end up buying Klim again the next year,,, except their gloves.

No reason, except maybe just something different this time.

If its Klim, then it would be the PowerX again. I don't think they have anything else that compares to that. I think the rest are all insulated or heavier.

If you are stoked on how the Power Xross has worked for you in the past, and just want to try something new or brighter, we would suggest staying with that jacket, just upgrading to the new version. As Phatty said it got redesigned this year, brighter colors and has some cool new features. We absolutely LOVED the one we got to ride in, and the new Green-Hi-Viz is pretty rad on snow! Let us know if you have any questions or particulars we can answer, and expect that we will have them for sale no later than the end of August!

Guess, I will try to keep from getting my panties in a wad, and just wait for the new release then. That is probably the safest bet.

Yes it has worked very well for me. By the time, I get, base layer, tekvest, pull-over and pack on, it is plenty warm for this old bear. The only time, I have had trouble is on the way in at night. I have always stayed dry, its mobile, and durable. I have had it so long, I walked into a gas station to grab a snack on the way out. Some guy says to me, I didn't even know they made one in all black.... hahahahahaha.

For sure, those are all good things to think about. But for what it is worth there are some great deals right now on the ones from this year 2014. No reason ya couldn't pick one up for a good deal then if you decided you wanted something for a little bit colder riding decide that in the fall when you see all the new pieces. Either way, we would love to help out!

Strikt has been around for a couple years now in Canada, and on the Moto side of things for a couple as well, super cool company. They however do not offer a pullover yet. They offer two jackets, the Freeride and Aspect. We have not gotten to personally wear either of them yet, but we did see the Mickus running the jackets, but they were running FXR pants and Boots one day as well, so we sent Brandon a message this morning to get his insight. Will report back...

Check this gear out. I ran into the TSS crew and they were testing this gear out and had nothing but good things to say about it. I'm pretty sure they have tried almost all the other top brands and they were raving about Strikt gear.
I'm not sure if they make a pull over yet.

I have seen, and wore, the new pullover and I LOVE it!! Its a much better cut and fit then last years version. Additionally, you will have several new color options that are brand new. Look for LOTS of new things from Klim next year, and lots of new colors!!! :)

Not to hihack the thread, but I've had great success with MF's pullover.

It's currently only $180 and works awesome. Its waterproof, has storage, great duribility, ......its a winner for pullover!

I've been tempted to order a 2nd before they run out..

Great piece we sold a ton of them, problem is that S, M, and 2X were not the sizes we sold which is all that has been available all year, since this jacket is three years old.

When is the release of the '15 Klim gear?

They will start leaking details here and there, but most likely early/mid summer for the entire look book to be released online. But for those viewing this thread, since the rest of the site is dead right now, here is a spy shot of some boots we are testing, that 100% will be out next year. This is the Klim Adrenaline GTX BOA. Note that this boot already has refinements that are being made for production, so although they will look super similar, you would be receiving the finished product which will differ slightly from these. You will start to be able to order these come August at BlownMotor.com!

BM... Trying to save money by not heating the office and testing gear?:face-icon-small-ton

I upgraded from the original boots, from a different manufacturer to a pair that had boa's this year. I absolutely love them. I should have pitched my old pair, years, and years ago. My fear is cranking them down to tight and breaking the wire. Maybe that's a near impossibility. I would just crank them down until they are snug.

Ha! Finally! I have been literally begging Klim for this exact boot for at least 8 years. I used to have close ties to a former high ranking Klim employee and asked for the BOA system every time I talked to him. This will be the perfect boot.

I hope a guard for the bottom of the dial is one of the refinements.

BM,
Would you consider the Tomahawk and the Pullover to be the same weight/warmth/breathability wise?

RMS,we would yes. They are both meant to be shell pieces. With the Tomohawk you obviously get the zipper option, more pockets, and more creature comforts. I actually personally wore the Pullover before starting BM, and since then have gotten the chance to spend some time in the Tomohawk and then I have work both of the new pieces as well for 2015. Personally I think I like the Zipper better, but for the price and usability hard to go wrong with the pullover.
