Recover my sled, should I pay or welch?

All

For the record, I just called Kody and paid the other $250. I want to make sure my name is clean here and it is, Sorry this happend, I am flat ****ING livid about it!!!!1

Thanks
Darran

Way to go! I gave yah good rep for it. I dont think beeman is ripping on you here as much as he is trying to just find out why the other party thought they shouldnt have to pay? I personally would of taken it as a challenge and just did it for beers at the bar as i am sure beeman would of too. But once the offer of paying was established I am sure to the Kody it was a little insulting to feel like his efforts were not worth anything to your friend.

Its definately not cool not to pay. I had to abandon my sled wrecked in the WY mountains because we had to get back Colorado and the weather was to bad. Lincoln County Customs retrieved it.

My insurance is paying for the recovery.

A deductable is a small price to pay to have a sled retrieved without a chopper.

The Snowies has plenty of death traps. $250.00 is cheap.

Well Beeman 800 your side of the story is interesting to say the least.

But let me tell you why I so called "welshed".

I have left Kody numerous messages to call me for payment at this number 307-742-4858. No one has returned my calls, I am not going to leave my credit card # on someones voice mail. Would you?

On February 18 Connie PM'ed me about payment see below:

Good afternoon- Kody requested that I attempt to contact you in regaards to the sled recovery fee for the other sled. He has yet to receive it and would appreciate payment. Any help in this matter would be wonderful. Thanks, Connie

I replied as soon as I got the message:

Where should I send the $$??

Never heard back.

How am I supposed to pay the bill if no one responses back, I figured Kody would eventually get back to me and we would settle up. I'm pretty sure I gave Kody my business card that night, which has all my info to contact me.

Anyother questions Beeman feel free to call me :)

not to stir the pot---but how many times have you been back up and ridden right past kody's office since the ordeal?

Stir away, I was there this weekend. Kody was at Jackson, now he's in Alaska I hear. Bills paid move on. I guess I should of hounded him day in and day out till I could get a hold of him.

fun stuff, I have had many a snowesters on the end of my winch, everyone of them has paid in full....of course I have never asked for a dime.....which reminds me that I need to get my track back from the fellow who I loaned it to when he was broke down in the boonies of preist.......

everyone has their day, help a man when he is down, hopefully he will do the same.

I'm a guide for Trailblazer in Fraser, CO, and on occasion we have been called out to extricate the occasional private snowmobiler's sled and more often than not one of our own rental sleds.

Our rate starts at $50/hr for each snowmobile we have to use to get out there and $50/hr for each guide. If the snow cat has to get pulled out it's $300 for a start up fee and another $300/hr.

It seems to me that $250 is a hell of a good deal from what I hear about the area these sleds were stuck in.

I'm glad to hear all of this is resolved now. It's nice to hear of people helping eachother out.

For the rate you have--I could have it choppered out for what 2 hours of your snowcat costs:eek: Unless you have a snow cat like in "8 below".

I understand your rate--but----1-800-heli

I have spent most of a day helping people get their sleds out--many times--and as well--the same with others helping me out.

Glad to see this is resolved--Good job.

Just to clear this up a bit, we charge those rates when we absolutely could be doing other tours, making money. We're trying to run a business so if we spent all of our time getting people out for free we wouldn't have a business to run. My boss and his son frequently go out and help a lot of guys get their sleds out for no cost. Beer or something like that is always nice too. Myself and my dad have done the same for many people. What I was saying happens when we're slammed with tours so pulling guides out on sled extractions becomes a huge cost factor. And as far as the snowcat goes, the operation costs on that thing are insane. Often times we have to move it from one trail system to another which involves us paying a local transport company. I guess I should have made this a little clearer. If we've got the time and people free we're more than happy to help people out that find themselves in a jam.

I don't see a thing wrong with this at all. Help others when you can, but gotta make a lining as well.

were you guys there helping with the recovery or did these two guys go out on thier own and get them for ya??? think charging a guy if your helping him out is not the most stand up thing to do, but if these guys went out on thier own and did your work for you they most defiantley earned the money!!! sometimes poor decisions will cost you...

Doesn't sound like he was too tore up about not getting his money but I am wondering how newmy1 managed to pay this guy (twice actually) when you couldn't. How does Beeman fit into this? I like mysteries!

i would never begrudge a company charging money for their services. If they don't charge, they quickly go out of business.

$250 is a heck of a deal for the sledders and it is wrong that they didn't immediately have the cash waiting for the guides.

As for a helicopter being cheaper, you guys may be thinking of the rates charged by the guy at revy ( $500 or so ). He has a very short distance plus 1-3 guys every day. If you have to get someone in a remote area that isn't as popular, it is going to be north of $1,000 per sled in a hurry.
