Real world weights

This topic is like a bad reoccurring dream. It just won't go away and it makes no sense!

First, let me say that it takes a lot of snow to make one gallon of water (8.34 lbs). I have a wrap on my sled, partially to keep the snow off of the tunnel. The '15 Pros will have painted tunnels. There is no way my sled has as much snow sticking to it as these videos show. The Pro also holds more fuel than the Doo (1 gal more) and Yamaha (1.5 gal more). That's another 13 lbs more of fuel than the Yamaha. I get that the Yamaha will get better fuel mileage but we are talking weight here.

If Yamaha and AC spent as much time working on weight savings as they spend on these silly videos about chunks of ice on a sled, they would have already shed more pounds. What a terrible marketing ploy.

I don't understand why it bothers everyone about weight. If you want a light Polaris buy one and don't worry about it. If you want a heavy Yamaha buy one and don't worry about it. Do those videos actually get you that worked up you would go buy a scale and waste a day on the hill just to weigh sleds??? Maybe it was rigged maybe it wasn't. Is your little scale and test going to convince you to go buy a viper.. Probably not. Once you find out their tests were off by 10-15 pounds in the favour of Yamaha are you going to sue??? Get over it

Mostly I think it is just humorous to watch Cat and YammiCat try to make excuses for being so heavy. It is even funnier to see what the fat chic sled owners have to say in defense of their purchases.

Polaris is selling the best riding, lightest wieght mountain sled. Watching a video where some clowns try to tell me the Pro holds 124 lbs of snow is a freaking joke. Anyone who actually buys those goods deserves to ride a fat chic sled. Next they will be telling us their fat women don't seem so fat when they turn out the lights, and that you can't really feel the weight while riding them.

The comment about YammiCat closing the gap is freaking hilarious as well... 100 lbs is not even close. It would be like riding double with my wife on the sled. What kind of lies do you have to be telling yourself to be convinced you couldn't feel that extra wieght?

Lighter is better. That is what made the Pro the best selling snowmobile. Spin the rest however you guys like.

Come on guys we are not measuring the density of the snowpack that might be in your track & suspension. Heck the lunch and junk in my backpack weighs just as much. And by the way while your eating lunch what a great time to clean the slush from your suspension. And when you stop to PP have another look it's takes 30 seconds to clean out the suspension with out buying into the weight hype.. Bottom line 400# will always be lighter than # 540.

Is anyone going to stop riding because there is snow in there suspension ? LOL

I own a 13 pro and just sold my nytro and snow checked a viper with boost it. Both sleds are a blast to ride. Just dont' know why Yamaha is such a threat to you guys. Just find it very interesting that a heavy overweight "fat chick" pos sled is such a hot topic and you guys cant get over it. what brand doesn't blow smoke up your a$$ about what they are capable of. Do you think Yamaha is gonna come out with a video on being all of the above or try and show why they think they are trying in the mountain segment? If worrying about a few pounds or a 100 pds is what turns your boat keep the discussion flowing and it will be interesting to see what you find. wish I had that kind of time to waste on this, but too busy out having fun riding my flickable pro and heavy fat pos Yamaha that I had to sink an extra 7 grand into to make it competitive.

Yamaha has to get over it and stop trying to create marketing gimmicks in order to sell sleds..Yamaha chooses to build a heavy sled while the rest of the industry has built lighter sleds. Yamaha can't even compare apples with apples. Put a turbo on the other 3 and than compare Power to Weight.

What would you rather ride Yamaha guys a turbo sled weighing 420# or a turbo sled weighing 540#

Not a threat man... you did read my post and figured out it was a joke right?

What happened is YamaCat made a promo video where they packed 124 lbs of snow into a Polaris. There is NO other explanation for that, funny chit for sure.

I am making fun of anyone crazy enough to believe such a thing is possible. You even ride a Pro, does yours carry 124 lbs of snow?

YammiCat brought it up, made a video, had it posted here, rallied the troops to veiw it. You expect there not to be discussions? I am sure the Viper will be a good mtn sled with a turbo. That is $16k+ OTD. Glad to see you are interesteding dropping that kind of jack. I am a $10k sled rider, so lets compare a non turbo Viper to the Pro in the same price range. The Viper gets creamed. Why, too heavy, not enough power.

It is just close but, no cigar... again. The great part is watching people try to tell me it doesn't matter....

I found it very suspicious, to be honest i didn't like what i saw.
For ex. diffrences on snow on the runningboards, and a-arms.
I have pictures on my Viper with the a-arms packed with so much snow that the Poo and Doo in the "test" would look silly.

I agree. At the end of the day Yamaha has been, and is still heavy and will always be hevier then two strokes. It garners so much attention that it blows my mind how bent out of shape some guys get.
I had the pro out yesterday and did notice that it was packed solid full of snow. The vid showed the yammi skid basically empty with no snow which I find hard to believe. will be interesting to see a 2nd comparison

I love my fat chick sled its heavy, runs every day,has 5000 turboed 280hp pump gas miles with no issues at all, beats my buddies turbo cats, pros, and doos in the trees. Its amazing I heard yamahas are to heavy to ride in the trees.I must have it setup well:face-icon-small-win Its easier to ride than my IRONDOG race cat sled

This forum is full of guys that take it to the light 2 strokes in the trees with their turboed 4 strokes but yet they never post videos of it happening:face-icon-small-sho

wheres the videos of the 2 strokes taking it to the 4's? Chris Burandt can ride the hell out of his pro but so can Chris Brown on his Nytro along with a bunch from Thunderstruck.Theres your videos. Everyone thinks there the best but no matter how good you are someone is always gonna be better.:closed_2:

Watch how hard Chris Brown has to work that sled, especially in downhill curves....he's working not playing with it. The front end drops down hard and fast instead of floating over the snow. I love Yamaha's quality engines, fit and finish, and overall dependability, but they are heavy sleds that give you a workout.
