Catalyst M series weight

Maybe I'm missing something in the video, but the pol is 448 and the 858 is 468 - showing the 858 is 20 lbs more? Just seems like they should be closure in weight from what I've seen here and on social media.
Lot of interesting data. Very surprised at how light Rich Maxwell weighed the stock base 154 compared to the one I weighed. I did not suck all the oil out but that can only account for a small variance. Usually when I weigh them, they are 10-20 lbs heavier than Cat claimed dry weight. Always made sense to me as dry weight is the weight of the BOM added together to build the unit. I always figured the variance was about right for coolant, shock oil, brake fluid. My 165 sno pro was 17lbs heavier than Cat's dry spec but the base model was 25lbs heavier. Wondering if my scale needs calibration. I believe I ordered it online many moons ago and have only used it to weigh sleds lol.

That falls in line with what Woody posted. Figure 9.4 gallons of fuel at 56.4 lbs takes his reading of 449 + 56.4 = 505.4. Plus a few more lbs to top off the oil tank from the level that Cat ships the sled with. The weight is certainly competitive with the offerings from Polaris and Ski Doo which is good to see.
Agreed.

I bet the cat will climb higher in deep snow. I was on wyoboys 600 catalyst 154 3" last winter, and him on my 9R 2.75 155. He is 40lbs heavier than me. I outclimbed him on the cat easily in 18" of pow. I couldnt believe it. You could easily feel the power difference between the 2 sleds. The 9R was screaming but didnt put it down to the snow. It all came down to the track, approach angle. We switched and he was right with me on that 600. I even rode my 22 Cat alpha elevate more in deep pow last year cause it just seemed to get through deep snow better than my 9R. But the 9R was still a better all around sled than both in handling. The 858 should pop the front end better and keep it happier than the 600 at 11k ft. Looking forward to comparing it with the 9R this year.

My 9r has a 3.25 track and 600 catalyst has a 2.6 and 146 so obviously no comparison. I actually don't mind the 2.75 for our sugar snow but the 325 is the best track polaris has ever made. That's is the track that should be compared to the 3 inch cat. I bet the 325 is 5 pounds heavier than the 2.75. I think the cat is as light or lighter, and better balanced and easier to ride, than the 9r.

Just filled my Catalyst and it held 36.4 litres or 9.6 gallons
Once i got home and checked it again it had gone down so10 gallons give or take a bit

After my first ride on my 858 I drained as much fuel as I could and went to the gas station and filled up. Got 9.9 gallons in the 858. It easily could have had a half gallon left in it. So I think the Cat 10.4 gallon number is correct.

I'm sure you as well as most know what actual and rated means. For legal purposes they have to leave space for expansion of the fuel when it warms. The Procross actual to rated was a gallon less as well.

Every Arctic Cat model sled gets gas put in the tank and ran thru all the steps at the end of the assy line. There is a mechanical arm that starts the pull rope models.

I know they have a run in station but believe they run them on a different fuel system. I just opened a 2024 M 8000 Hardcore crate, and the tank is bone dry and does not smell as if it has ever had fuel in it.

Weighed the flagship 858 outa da crate. M 858 Mountain Cat Alpha One 165 ATAC 3.0 ES. Battery serviced and installed, no oil or fuel added.

Since 2024, they run them with fuel in the tank, as they were having fuel pump failures running with out fuel to cool them.
