Racism and this forum....

What types of jobs are minorities more qualified for because they are minorities?

All of them. Being a minority makes you elligible for affirmative action and therefore more desirable to employers. Many large companies and government contracts require a certain percentage of minority hires.

I'm not saying they are more adept at the job, simply more qualified in the employers eyes, wether it enables them to bid government contracts or receive tax credits.
 
We all have an opportunity to WORK hard for what we want...that doesn't mean you always get it.

Minorities actually have plenty of opportunities when it comes to education and funding.

When you ask why there are not more CEOs...why does that matter? Are you going to judge yourself and measure your potential by the success or failure of others or are you going to strive for your ambitions.

One thing we all have in common...we all have barriers and we all have benefits...it's up to you to be what you want though. If you are going to spend your life mirroring statistics, then you'll simply become another one.

Racial and Ethnic Preferences in Undergraduate Admissions

Executive Summary

The University of Michigan awarded a very large degree of preference in undergraduate admissions to blacks over whites and Asians with the same credentials and background for every year analyzed (1999, 2003, 2004, and 2005).
In every year:
• Black admittees had substantially lower SAT scores, ACT scores, and high school GPAs compared to Asians and whites.
• The range of Hispanic admittees' test scores (SATs and ACTs) and high school GPAs fell between those for blacks and those for Asians and whites.
• Asian admittees had higher median test scores (SATs and ACTs) compared to whites, but white admittees had higher high school GPAs.

In the most recent year (2005) for which data were provided, the median black admittee's SAT score was 1160, versus 1260 for Hispanics, 1350 for whites, and 1400 for Asians. High school GPAs were 3.4 for the median black, 3.6 for Hispanics, 3.8 for Asians, and 3.9 for whites.

In the years analyzed, UM rejected over 8,000 Hispanics, Asians, and whites who had higher SAT or ACT scores and GPAs than the median black admittee--including nearly 2,700 students in 2005, the most recent year, alone.

Based on logistic regression analyses, race and ethnicity are apparently more heavily weighted in admissions now than in 1999 (one of the years reviewed by the Supreme Court, which struck down the undergraduate admissions system as unconstitutional).
Odds ratios. As shown by odds ratios controlling for credentials and background, UM awarded a great deal of preference to black relative to white applicants for every year.
• In 1999, 2003, and 2004, the odds were roughly 25 to 1 favoring blacks among students taking the SATs.
• Using the ACTs, odds favoring black applicants were 48 to 1 in 1999, dropping to 29 to 1 in 2003, and 24 to 1 in 2004.
• The odds favoring blacks increased significantly in 2005 regardless of what test one took. The black-to-white odds ratios were 70 to 1 using the SAT and 63 to 1 using the ACT. Thus, the most recent year analyzed showed the most severe discrimination.
 
Everyone is racist in their core. If you ever watched survivor you would see that the only way you could really trust someone is through race gender or age. When pushed against a wall people will flock to their own kind. Racism gets buried inside of people when they don't feel threatened and it comes out when they do. Most black people have never stopped feeling threatened and that is why they tend to be more racist. White people are feeling a little threatened right now which is why you see it on the rise with them. When the OJ trial happened the N word became worse than the F word. Since the Obama disaster the N word has been flying around more than it has in the previous 10 years.
 
I've always wondered, from a managers perspective, why would you hire any minorities? Women or other non white groups or disabled. People like that have special rights, white males have non. So, the chances of having a grievance or discrimination filed against you are much lower. Not saying such things aren't needed, but doesn't it actually hold all non-white-healthy-males back?

As for the CEO thing, even us normal white males have little to no chance of ever getting any of those jobs. You have to be a member of a elite fraternity or the right college or just no the right people. CEOs jobs don't seem to follow standard logic.

If a company has so many employees they must have an affirmative action program.

If a company is involved in a government contract they must have a percentage of the work done by a minority.

It is federal law.

Many years ago I used to manage rocket parts and when we built a product for say 100 items. We would use our regular contacts for say 110 items cause of failure. We would also buy say 10% of the product / subcomponents from a minority owned business and throw them away.

Today the minority owned business is getting most of the business and most farm out the actual work to some other company. The minority owned business became a compliance distributor. This is not for all product but it is commonplace for government contracting.

Now there is state level legislature trying to stop this introduced outside the government.

Basically the new laws being introduced say you will buy a product / service regardless of the business owners race / creed / religion / sexual orientation.

I think Colorado had this on the ballot.

Did it pass?

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day.

You have Black History Month.

You have Cesar Chavez Day.

You have Yom Hashoah

You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.

You have the NAACP. You have BET. If we had WET (White Entertainment Television) we'd be racists. If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists.

If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.

If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR, lives we'd be racists.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce. Wonder who pays for that??

A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.

If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships ...You know we'd be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US . Yet if there were 'White colleges' That would be a racist college.

In the Million Man March , you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

I am proud, But you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists??

There is nothing improper about this e-mail. Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on. I sadly don't think many will. That's why we have lost most of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We don't stand up for ourselves!

The reason we have shifted to discriminate against caucasions is the USA society is bombarded , saturated with ACCEPTABLE reverse discrimination in the workplace , in the news, music , lifestyles , legislation , and perception.

A president was elected ... partially because of the color of his skin which has been the case in years past.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

These companies DISCRIMINATE against "other than black" people by primarily promoting business based on the color of their skin.

Movie stars , position in government , sports, media, lawyers ... everywhere.
Plus they have "politically and socially correct skin color" promoted by media , music , and legislation.

You know, that's an interesting subject of discussion. Having known some black women, that let their true feelings be known, I have a racist question about that also.

So, woman comes in to work she's been crying. Seems her old man left her for the second time. Now, here's a highly educated, slender, pretty black woman, always nice and polite, home owner and everything. So, the old man keeps leaving her, but not for some "better" woman, no for some fat, trailer trash, white girl. She says there's a growing resentment by black women, at how they are treated by black men. They've started putting pressure on the churches to make this an issue. Why do black men not see black women as equal to white women? Never gotten a black man's perspective on it. No matter how good of friends we were, they won't talk about it. Are white women a status symbol or something?

I think Richard Pryor said it best about the reason black women are angry that black men date white women.... "Why should they be happy?" lol...

Yha Donbrown, I know all that. I wasn't talking about rules, I was talking about the subconscious thoughts a manager has while he's sitting there interviewing some person for a job. Say a government manager with his quota already meet. One boss actually told me, he'd be a director by now, if he hadn't hired a minority. The guy turned out to have a long history of racial discrimination filings. So, the boss made the mistake of writing up the guy for lack of work performance. He got a grievance, and that blocked the boss's promotion path. I was working for the Navy during the "tailhook" scandal. Class after class about discrimination after that, one about every other month.

That's funny, in the Navy we would need 20 each $100K assemblies. So, we'd order 25, cause we knew 5 of them would go to a small minority business. (minority in the government doesn't mean black) They generally weren't qualified to make them, but they got the contract. The inspectors didn't even inspect the assemblies, they'd just bring them to the shop and have the guys take them apart for the useful spare parts. That way they didn't get mixed into the stock system and cause us to miss a contract date. Just the way things were done.

Hadn't heard about the state laws. Interesting. How does that effect federal contracts?

Don't think they ever tried to pass the law on a FEDERAL LEVEL.

In fact the state law is just a portion of the Constitution applied / implemented into the state constitution contract/legal system.


It basically reads:

The State shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.

SO MINORITIES ARE TRYING TO STOP THIS LEGISLATURE AND KEEP PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT FOR A DESIGNATED MINORITY AT ANY COST.

I'm not racsist ...I hate "Stupid" and anyone can qualify...my aunt married a black man named Robert Holms....he was a big football great with the Kansas City Chiefs some time ago ..wears a Superbowl ring ....my cousins then are ,..well fairly black n white ...they are still my kin ...thats all a I gotta say bout that ..
 
I am not racist.....I just hate liberals from any race, creed, nationality, background, etc...I also hate leeches/parasites! So sure I am discriminatory and don't promote tolerance!
