Racism and this forum....

My grandmother grew up with her parents being slaves. SO it's sort of close to home when you hear the stories she tells about that torture some of them were put through. Contrary to most most peoples thinking slavery wasn't legally abolished until the 1930's.

My KFC comment was more a joke as to what I find exceptable, and I can say it because I am black. Dropping the N-bomb and referring to hanging crosses the line grossly in my opinion.

As for what I'm reading it comes from real world experience. How many black or latino CEO's do you see? How many black or latino men in congress? Why do you think real estate angents in wealthy cities steer the black people away from predominantly white neighbourhoods.

I'm sorry, americans know everything, who am I to dare challenge ignorance.

I will agree with you on the hangin cross burnin...it does cross the line but you have to admit SOME of these jokes are LOL.
As for a serious side of things why no CEO's or in congress? Your answer is obvious, we just elected a black president! Quit crying about lost opportunities and go grab the world by the horns and get it done. You want to blame someone look into the mirror. America is full of opportunities more now than ever and I for one and SICK and tired of minorities crying they dont have a fair chance.
When my great grandparents got off the boat there was nobody helping them, nobody assisting them with a language barrier..NO real estate agents to MAKE sure fair housing was in place but yet people still perciveered and made something of themselves.
I personally take offense to the steering on housing. If you are truely a black man and came to me with a pre-approval letter and said you want to buy the biggest house on the block do you really think any agent would steer you a different direction? Now if you came to me and said you deserve that house because you are black and want some better deal than anybody else....you would find your azz on the curb and not because you are black but because you insult me and our system.

I would argue the fact that real estate agents steer blacks away from white neighborhoods. If somebody walks in their office and can afford to spend $500K on a house, no smart sales person is going to try to sell them something cheaper.

This is the typical "whoa is me" attitude that continues to divide this nation.

As far as I am concerned nobody is entitled to anything they don't work hard for. If you think that everyone else is just getting ahead because of their skin tone, you need to look inside yourself and see what you are doing wrong.

One of the biggest problems with racism in this country is perseption.

The likes of Jessie Jackson, Louis Farakon and so on, have been yelling for the last 30 years that no black man can make it in america without THEIR help. A lot believe it. They look for help rather than looking for the way to help themselves.

"Look at the rich white man, he has a big house, fancy cars and takes exotic vacations. He does this because he has abused the minorities. Join with me and we will make him pay"

What they don't tell you is the rich white man works 12 hours a day and has been doing it for 30 years. Until we can silence the race peddlers nothing will change.

I completely agree with Himark. If you are going to sit and complain that there aren't enough black CEO's or congressmen, you really need to look at some of the social problems that are specific to blacks. I know I'll probably get flamed by some of you for this but I think I am pretty accurate here. Black society in general doesn't lend itself to giving and creating role models that are 'close'. By that I mean that there are statistically much higher numbers of black families that are raised by single parents and it's not the dad's doing the work. Black people now have a role model in the most powerful position in the world. But what about someone that is close (father, uncle, grandfather, etc). Second, I've read that 1 in 5 black men have either been in prison or are currently in prison. 20%. That is a HUGE number in comparison to the other demographics in the nation. I'm sure some of you will come back with 'well it's the police and their racial profiling' or 'it's whitey keeping the man down' or whatever. The fact is that there is a much higher percentage of black men that are incarcirated which causes black families to go through their daily life with little to no interaction with a father figure for whatever reason. If you want to really see black people succeed on a level with the rest of the nation, you are going to have to change their behavior at the most fundamental level and fix some of the social problems that are specific to them.

Second, you mention CEO's and Congressmen and why there aren't more blacks involved here. I'll address business first: Not sure if you know but most CEO's are white males taller than 6' and most are generally 'good looking'. So why aren't the short ugly guys complaining and trying to get government assistance? Why isn't there a NAASP (National Association for the Advnacement of Short People) or USPCF (United Short People College Fund)? I'll tell you why. The rest of the country understands that if they want something, they have to work their A$$ off to get it. Nobody's going to hand them a CEO position just because they are black. As far as congressional seats go, I'd say the biggest reason is the fact that historically, most blacks do not vote. After the vote this week, if there are complaints about why there aren't more blacks in congress I will be surprised. It's very clear that when the blacks vote, they have a ton of pull. If you aren't happy with the results, you need to put it on the shoulders of the people who are really to blame. Grab the bull by the horns and if you want something, go after it.

Johnnyk admitted he is black. In my mind blacks like him are the reason there are not many black CEO's or blacks in politics. It is much easier to sit back and complain than it is to actually work towards a goal. People who think everything should be given to them deserve nothing.

How come 61% of black males are killed by black males? is this whitey's fault as well.

DING DING DING
WE HAVE A WINNER
That pretty much sums it up.
Stop whining, get a job and learn to excell.

Jimmy

When they stop refering to themselves that they are African American or Mexican American or Asian American or Native American or CAN AM (just a little joke I hope the mods don't ban me) and become part of this country and call themselves AMERICANS and speak ENGLISH and stop wanting everything given to them. Then and only then will they EARN my RESPECT. This goes for the Trailer Trash Americans also, no matter what color they are!

My relatives didn't own slaves. They migrated from Merakur Norway in 1865 to escape the silver mines. One died on the boat of Cholera. They were denied entry through Ellis Island due to fear of outbreak. They then docked in Canada and then onto the great plains. Where they lived in sod houses, planted crops by hand while trying to survive the harsh winters, indians and wolves. 2 Distant relatives were killed by Indians. They also had to overcome the language and cultural barrier as towns formed were predominantly German, Irish, or Dutch. My ancestors had a tough time, wheres my free lunch?

Racism is always a 2 way street. One race feels jilted and feels the need to fight for their rights. That fight always smacks of racism. It's easy to be angry as a white guy when you see Affirmative Action, Negro COllege FUnd, BET etc. yet can't do the same for your race (no matter what race it is). As soon as you start the United Whitey COllege Fund, you, my friend, are deemed a racist. It's not going to change. The biggest obstacle to any change in attitudes is the radical extremist that lives behind the scenes. Stand up for a white cause and you're labeled a skin head. Stand up for a black cause and someone thinks that you're a black panther. Black and White both died on 9-11. Black and white are both dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. More people cheer for Tiger Woods than Phil Mickelson. Would anyone on this forum not extend their hand to Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan if either of them walked up and introduced themselves. There are lazy whites, lazy blacks, lazy mexicans, lazy germans etc. There are also hard working people of all races that want exactly the same thing that you want.

I see no racism on this form, in the NBA,NFL, or any Olympic team from our country.

I try to separate jokes and humor from real racism. I grew up with a few black friends. They had no problem taking the jokes or giving them back for that matter. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, I just don't see it as the big problem the Jessie Jackson's or Opra Winfrey's of the country want followers to believe it is.

This American only knows one thing; please use a capital letter for the words America or American

Racism is ugly. In reality, strip the skin off us, and we look the same. Cut anybody’s finger and they will bleed red blood.

Remember, Jessie Jackson and others shout this out because they make their living doing it. Because the sheep follow their lead because they happen to have the loudest voice.

You want that CEO position, earn it. Bust your butt, work for it. Don’t stand there and cry because you were the last one picked. You will notice two different kinds of people. The "doers" and the "whiners". The doers are to busy making a living, grabbing that bull by the horns and showing him who is boss to worry about the rest of this BS. The whiners are always the victim and the oppressed. Poor me.

Remember, adversity creates opportunity.

And I will quote, I am not a Obama fan, at all. I am scared to death to see him in the position he is in. But as far as I can recall, from what I saw, he did not play the race card at all himself, others did, but i did not see him do it himself.

and FYI: Most of us tell blond jokes, and don’t fool yourself by thinking we don’t all have a soft spot in our hearts and wild dreams for that well endowed blond in those jokes.

Jesse Jackson is a horrible person. That's just my opinion, and perhaps the opinion of many other Black Americans. "Bloody Shirt" scenerio is a perfect example of why I really do not like the guy. My black College Professor almost hated him.

Racism on this Forum? Perception is suppose.

I personally believe there is reverse racism...and Affirmative Action could be argued as that. My best friend is an HR manager and he feels it is discrimination. They literally have to hire someone LESS qualified to meet AA numbers. That's WRONG.
